(I worry this is going to be one of the crazy, loquacious posts that doesn't really achieve anything as I don't really know how to respond, although I'd very much like to, but here goes...)
I agree, I don't like society much either, I think it's a control thing, because I don't have control over society and what everybody else is doing I worry about it and so consequently hate it as it's not how I would run a society.
I don't really know how to console you in your feelings but I would like to talk to you about society and all that.
Like for instance, in your post you indirectly refer to yourself as a weirdo and I find this interesting. What makes you sure that you are a weirdo? I mean, how do you know 'weirdness' isn't just an idea or word created in order to oppress people's individuality, just like 'slut' and 'whore' are ways or words of repressing a woman's sexual freedom? And so if you believe yourself to be weird then do ''they win''?
And to continue on from this, is society weird for conforming? And why is conformity such a normal thing to do anyway? Just because we've always done it, has it evolved and built into us? Evolution, however, isn't about staying the same, it's all about changing, ''survival of the fittest'' is rubbish! Honestly!
You know, maybe us 'weirdos' are the future, we have to be weird, it's our purpose, if the environment somehow miraculously changes and all these people who've spent their lives conforming maybe won't be able to survive!
I mean, take a look at what's happening in Wales right now, a community decided to conform and not take the MMR vaccine, and now measles has broken out and they've all decided to take the vaccine. Funny that. I don't know, but it seems to me like it's better to be a weirdo, to do what you believe is right is better than to follow everyone else, because you never know... There could be an outbreak of measles!
What do you think?
P.S: I'd happily be your pen-pal! (It's just I don't trust giving out my details on the internet as much as the next guy! Plus I never have the courage to buy stamps!)
