Mother of an Autistic Child Saying Hello!

Hi!
My name is Nicole Storey and I have an autistic son who is fifteen and a freshman in high school. By joining here, it is my hope to gain information to help my son through a rough time he is having right now. Here is a little about me:

I am an author. Yep, I write books and actually sell a few every now and then. The series I have out now is called Grimsley Hollow. The books are of the juvenile fantasy genre and were inspired by my son. The main character is an autistic boy. When I'm not writing, I love to read (I have a penchant for fantasy and paranormal books), blog, cook, and anything to do with Halloween. It's my favorite holiday! I live in the hot and humid part of Georgia (Really, is there any place in GA that isn't hot and humid?). I have two children. Gage is my eldest and has autism and Tourettes. Sydney is my youngest at eight and she is NT. I am also married to my wonderful husband of sixteen years.

I would love to get to know some people and maybe talk my son into joining, as well, He desperately needs some friends in his life right now. Thank you for allowing me to post and share in your experiences.

Oooh, I'm a writer too! Right now I'm writing poetry, but I'll start seriously working on other things after a couple of collections come out. I have a publisher for my work and everything. Writing is so rewarding, but it's also very hard. But what am I saying? You know all this, of course. I suppose the only person it was ever easy for was L. Ron Hubbard.

Salmondaze, it is always wonderful to meet a fellow writer! I admire anyone who masters poetry, as I absolutely cannot! LOL! Where is your work available?

Welcome! I too am an author -- of poetry -- and have had a book of poetry (non-vanity) published about 10 years ago, as well as work published in various journals. It is nice to meet a fellow author!

TenPence, thanks so much for the welcome! My son is having a hard time with puberty piled on top of the fact that he has no friends and it's his first year in high school. I feel so bad for him.
