So I am new here. I am a NT who works with many people on the spectrum and am here seeking advice. I like to base my therapy on research however this research topic is lacking and I am finding that I am getting more useful information via blogs and personal perspectives than research.
Most of the time toddler therapy is toddler therapy no matter the diagnosis however I am finding teenage social therapy with my patients on the spectrum is not like normal teenage therapy. I do understand the purpose and many of my ideas around therapy have come from books from Temple Grandin or John Elder Robinson, and think it is solely because of their insight that I achieve moderate success.
Will those of you in this community help a speech provider out by giving me some insight and ideas on how to conduct social therapy. What kind of goals were the most helpful and what types of implementation strategies worked the best? What are some basics that I should know to help me better help my patients?
Please be open and brutally honest. Even throw in stuff that you did not like your speech therapy experiences. Any insight that is constructive is good.
Thank you
