only joined on Thursday myself, as a matter of fact- kinda feels liberating to openly discuss the aspie side of things when people can identify with it.
Btw, Marisa Tomei's a famous actress, not a member of WP as far as I know- she's very pretty, too.

Fabian - thanks for clarifying the "Marisa Tomei" comment...now I feel like a dork  Apparently she is well known, except to me. But I just Googled her name and saw a pic of her. So I guess I should take AspE's comment as a compliment

Hi Cereal1 - nice to meet you and i'm glad that you are enjoying the WP community. Lot's of good people here and lot's of fun and interesting conversations.
As for my photo...thanks for the sweet comments...it's just me. But i've had a couple other folks ask the same question...maybe I should change my photo to my puppy dog. Compliments are nice, but my mind doesn't process them well...they make me feel weird, nervous and filled with a little anxiety. :?

Sorry for that, i think that the fact that you feel nervous and weird when receiving compliments is a good thing actually.

Honestly: not really.
Your dog isn't hot enough to make you vanish into the background. Tell him to try looking at the camera next time (possibly winking one eye), that might work better. Also get rid of that weird artifact in the picture - makes it look like you've scanned the image or you're transmitting from the ISS.

Anyway, I can imagine it's weird and can make you feel self-conscious when people keep complimenting your looks, because typically you don't think about that when you go about your day. It suddenly makes you aware of your effect on other people.

Thanks LookTwice! I tried to get "Chewy"(my pup) to look at the camera, but anytime I bring her close to my face, she just likes to lick me(her way of kissing). What artifact are you talking about?

How old is Chewy?

You could attach something interesting to the camera ... or have someone else attract her attention. I suppose taxidermy is out of the question??
Anyway, I was only joking - it's a very nice picture of you two.

There's a horizontal line roughly in the center of the picture (running across your right cheek), where the upper part of the image doesn't quite line up with the lower part and the color is off a bit. Don't worry about it though, it's not that noticable.

Chewy is about 7 years old now...even thought she's an older dog, I still call her a puppy because she's small and cuddly. She still acts like a puppy with lots of energy and full of wet kisses! Do you have a dog?

I don't know what that marking on my picture is...I'm not very good at taking pictures =)

Cheers!

Nice to see you here. I know what you mean with not easy to be social in real life. Much unwritten rules out there in the jungle :-)

Hi McCoolHill, Nice to meet you as well. I like how you described it as the "Jungle" and the "Unwritten" rules. Those words describe exactly how I feel many times when I am out in the "live" social world. I made it through my high school...which was extremely challenging in the beginning but eventually became another "comfort zone" for me. I knew what to expect, I knew the daily routine, and I knew most of the people....so it got easier. New places, new environments, new people...they all cause anxiety within me.
