I have no diagnosis as an aspie or as being a high functioning autistic. I see Asperger's traits in myself but that could be coincidental. Yeah, I'm a bit weird, but I have never met anyone without quirks.

I would like feedback from people, but frankly I don't want to re-hash a previous thread and break a rule on my first day. There are LOTS of threads here to try to search through. Should I just start a thread and see if I get scolded?

I'm being told I have Asperger's Syndrome but I don't really think so. Some traits I do have:

Oversensitivity to visual and auditory stimuli

Lack of athleticism

Dislike of social gathering such as parties

Few friends throughout my life; no actual friends right now, just a couple of co-workers with common interests

Pauses while speaking

Tendency to interrupt someone who is speaking

That's probably enough to get started.

some things you mention go along with AS. here's a brief test based on the criteria docs use:

I carefully went over the page and I don't see many of the factors in myself. A couple apply but that's it. I took another test some months ago and my score indicated a fairly close balance between aspie and non aspie traits.

The person who is convinced I am an aspie says that I engage in severe gaslighting behavior regularly .

My fairly long pauses during talking cause escalation in any disagreement.

I do have trouble getting sidetracked after being asked to do something. I'm admittedly forgetful and have problems with focus. It has taken me several minutes just to write this because the television is distracting me.

I do have a diagnosis of depression and anxiety and have been on meds for about 20 years. I don't know if that factors in. My sensory overload problems showed up when I was an infant, if that matters.
