New here - not formally diagnosed
Hi everyone, I found this forum a couple weeks ago and finally got around to posting. I've never been much of a forum user, so we'll see how much I post or even follow this.
A little background: I've suspected I have Asperger's since I was in high school, but having difficulty approaching people about serious matters like this I never really got beyond my own research and thoughts. Since then I have been "informally diagnosed" with Asperger's by various sources, including the Aspie Quiz and other online tests. My wife is a psychology major, and she is convinced I have Asperger's; the subject has become one of her personal interests for obvious reasons. We were also seeing a counselor (who works with Autistic people quite a bit) for a while, and she said I "probably have Asperger's" when it came up during one of our sessions. So even though I have not been formally diagnosed, I am 99% sure this forum is the right place for me.
And now I'm just going to spew some information about myself, which you may skip if you get bored. I'm a professional musician, but I spend most of my time at home with my two girls, while I teach and rehearse/perform evenings and weekends. I love music, of course, as well as books, video games, Japanese culture, baking, and dark chocolate. I have a very eclectic taste in music, but my favorites tend to have strong rhythms and interesting harmonies. I'm particularly drawn to well-developed sci-fi/fantasy stories (favorite authors include Asimov, Orson Scott Card, and George R. R. Martin). The same goes for games; one of my all-time favorite games is Star Ocean 2. I watch anime and from there have started studying the Japanese language and culture. My love for baking is a more recent discovery; I always knew I like to bake but only recently did I realize how much pleasure I derive from kneading bread dough. I like most chocolate, but give me a box of Godiva dark chocolate and you'll be my friend for life.
Recent interests/obsessions: trading card games, personality typing (which actually brought me here), Pentatonix
