thanx folks ,that nice of you to welcome me :)
i am thinking it may be easier to talk to folks hear than in real life .i was at a day care centre i go to yesterday an my key worker said she was pleased with me becaus she notised i was making more of an effort to engage with people .i asked her what she ment an she said usualy i sit in a corner listening to music an i wasnt doing that this week.i xplained that the only reason for that was that ive lost my ipod .she was disapointed but said didnt i think it was a nice change .i said "no its terible - people keep trying to talk to me ".
i think maybe i shouldnt hav told her that!
has anyone else hear found the ignoranse of autistic spectrum so-called-disorders among clinical staff to be disapointing/hurtful ? i know i find this all the time.but at least i hav a realy nice key worker now .

Its good to have someone that understands you in various situations (like work). But in general I find its not best to over-indulge your own preferrences when in group situation. In other words limit the by yourself time and make an effort to spend some of it talking or getting to know the others. It will make you seem less aloof. In other words the middle-ground is the best place to be in mixed company (AS/NT).

Yes I agree. I am very frequently disappointed in my interactions with others because they frequently complain about the way I am. I think we have every right to prefer solitude to company (Henry David Thorough wrote about that and people cite him as a respectable person, so why not us?).

I think that in your place I would want to listen to my ipod too - even though I can enjoy interaction, that doesn't sound like the right environment for me. And I don't see how it could have been right of her to judge you for that.
