Looking for more Klinefelter's
Hi,
I'm new here. I diagnosed myself with Asperger's because I have genotype XXY and some of the ASD traits are also listed in XXY traits (formally better known under Klinefelter's syndrome which only describes the phenotype which is not necessarily present with every XXY male). I received my XXY diagnosis quite late, in the age of 25 and did not expect any possible connection to ASD. According to recent studies in the field of neuropsychology and neuroscience , there is a link between both conditions, though.
Of course, like many self-suspected Asperger's, I also did some self-screening tests online.
My results:
AQ: 36-40 (depending on understanding all questions correctly)
EQ: 17, SQ: 72
Aspie-Quiz (R-DOS): 152/200, non-autistic: 52/200
No matter what these tests really indicate or not, I feel ASD would explain so many facets of my past and present.
Currently, I'm especially focussed on finding other XXY men, especially those who have a diagnose (or self-diagnose) of Asperger's. Estimated numbers of undiagnosed XXY are quite high (> 60 %) and tendency to have also pervasive development disorders/psychosis is higher than in the average population.
Kind regards,
Pompeji
