Hey Folks! I'm the proud owner of a DSM-IV diagnosis of Autism. I am now reading NeuroTribes whence I referred myself to here? Anyone read it? I am an extraverted-affectionate autist. Like Judy Singer's daughter(from the book). I received my diagnosis in the following way: I was dating a speech therapist who tried to teach me smalltalk, found it exhausting, and said something was up. So I went all over the place trying to get answers and wound up autistic. Now I have a cat. I love writing like this because it's natural for me. Not NT. But I have enough NT instincts that I'm not including a lot of the humor. I work in retail. I like to sell stuff. I've successfully trained people to go door-to-door for the Sierra Club. Asking people for money and getting it is so much fun. I am NOT tech-savvy. I REFUSE to get a smart phone. My IQ is 142. I have never written like this in my life. It's liberating. Stream of consciousness. Hello everybody!

You remind me of my brother.

So tell me, Meeko, how I remind you of your brother.

You both talk like your in an infomercial.

Does your brother know what an infomercial is? I have no idea what you mean. I don't watch TV. Haven't for years.

AHA! Infomercial! I love selling things and customer service. Has anyone here taken the Myers-Briggs test? Personality Test I'm an ENFP. I do great at that sort of thing. I make jokes about it.

Basically, it's a long format commercial that contains information. Different form your normal commercial because they are lower budgeted and there is a obnoxious sales person pushing the sales. They usually come on in between gaps of programming. Especially, late at night. Originally, these long formatted commercials came on when the network went down for the night.

These commercials basically beat product information over the head of an impulsive buyer. In the hopes they would make a purchase.

Infomercials have been around since the 1950's.

Originally, television shows were created to push products and contained long formatted sales segments.

The FCC put a ban on how long you can push products shortly thereafter, creating the modern-day commercial.

Then in the mid 80's the FCC lifted the ban.

Informercials took off in the 1990's.

Usually, you would see a "get rich quick scheme" later products like, The Ginsu Knife and that Juicer (with that super-fit old dude). Oh and there was also that Shamwow guy.

Anyhow. Your post was like an informercial in that way.
