hashi,

I did write about falling asleep. when I close my eyes I see blotches of color, they have shapes and edges and watching the patterns they become shapes I recognize. They are very plastic then, so thinkng of something, or something I have been working on, and it takes that shape, the detail gets greater, and I can try design modifications.

One has been how boat hulls cut through water, how water moves under force, and the edges fill in, it becomes large format. It changes, I have not the words, but I see pressure waves, cavitation, and the wake created by changing the design. About the time I have something, I am off dreaming.

I thought I was thinking, but suddenly I snap back, but can get back in with ease. Designs I think up become refined when I sleep, more so when I put them through the pre going to sleep mill.

When I am stressed, angery, I think of farming deserts, what adding trace elements and fogging at night would change. By the time native grasses are coming back, biomass is rising, I am happy, and drift off.

I do something of the same awake, I can fix machines, by bringing them inside my mind, running them, and finding the one little thing that is malfunctioning. I am great at troubleshooting. Machines talk to me.

I am re-writing a book, and after a day on the keys the cast comes and talks to me, as I drift off. They like me, but I missed a lot, and the next day starts with corrections on the yesterday re-write. If they talk to me while I am writing, not much gets done, but while I sleep they re-write the re-write.

The world between waking and sleep seems to be when I can speak directly with my other brain, collected facts become ordered in systems, and I am sent to gather other facts. Whatever it is, I live there, and do get patents on the results. I have tried to deal with other inventors, I think they all have AS.

The applications of this type of thinking have not begun. To the world, I am what some NT with a slightly above normal IQ says, someone in need of psycobabble treatment, to make me normal.

No one knows what we see but us, and until we self define, we only have glimpses. They do all fit a common pattern, together we have thoughts of power.

WP has been great, it is much easier to self define from this background. In a few months I have learned a lot. We do have a lot in common. In classic Earth thinking, the leading edge of thought is considered a disability, even when it shows consistant patterns over millions of people, and most scientific and technological advances can be traced back to those patterns.

Coming to WP is the first time I have ever had clear reception. This is my wave length, when that many have that in common, this is something.

It is connected, my book is about the generation that changed from animals with sticks rocks, fire, to humans with a technological culture. I wrote it long ago, I thought they had some inventor gene, but now the re-write shows AS ran in the family.

Teaching images seen while falling asleep, and lucid dreaming, will now be in the book. I have one who can figure time and food to plan for a winter. She knows when to gather and how much, she does not have numbers, but something in her head shows amounts.

Another sees force, another designs boat hulls. They are all views of life, together they made it work, and technology started. They relate known ways in new groupings, and get new results.

If we could define ourselves we would gain true insights.

yes i would say i'm both very smart and very dumb, at the same time.

I'm fascinated by those that can do mental arithmetic. It is interesting how little information you
use about the given number. Well, you are encoding an 8-digit number in 100-digits, so naturally you don't
need to retrain much information. The intermediate digits are only used at the very end of the procedure
to use Fermat's little theorem to check the remainders mod 13. Surely, this could be modified so
that you don't even need to look at anything but the initial and final digits. But I don't quite see how to pull
it off without massive memorization.

tut tut you rude boy hehe.I dont own any porn DVDs , its "new cow syndrome" , I only wanna have any given heffer once , esp if its porn :) hope my girlfriend doesnt read this

I didn't mean to belittle it or anything

sorry , I can be a bit over sensitive , and you were of course correct :)

I don't see the problem with using tricks either

no me either, of course its the best way , its just not the way I wanted to do it.I have a masters in maths and physics so am capable of using some of the tricks and sometimes do in my work, but I saw an english savant on TV doing mental calculations using "coloured shapes" in his head only.My calculations happen on a much more conscious level but I wanted to see how much i could get my sub-conscious to do , like when i solved chess problems whilst sleeping ( dont think Im lucid dreaming when I do it but then i do remember it.....)

I wouldn't take too much notice of your face recognition score

Good point.I think I would have scored 10 if Id taken it in my teens , I learned to do it as an intellectual exercise after years of "gathering empirical evidence in the field"...someone would get mad at me and then Id realise what a facial expression meant when in the past Id seen it on their face. Then I realised what pissed people off and finally started to see their reactions in real timefor what they were....but still I needed the context to give me clues

Nicely put. You've siad many interesiting things there .I can certainly see how boat designs could come to you in this state , it was a big surprise to me when I realised how analytical thoughts could be whilst almost asleep...but I suppose our sub conscious carries out complex calculations all day long ( parabloa of a ball for instance, or just crossing the road).
I never see shapes or colours like you describe, but i do love sailing, windsurf, kitesurf.I think I am at my most relaxed when out alone in a force 8 on a stormy winter day and "up against it" a bit. What do you like to sail ?

so what do you spend your money on?

my girlfriend ! :) well , OK seriously on my hifi.I have c.2000+ vinyl LPs and dont know how many CDs.I spent half my pay last year after tax on my system. It does sound good , infact it sounds better for opera say than seeing it live sometimes. This depends of course on the venue and how close to the front you are....it does not sound as good as live music at a good venue. What would you have blown half of it on ?

Quote:

who doesnt ! well its mainly 4 things ...
1.hifi as listed above.my brain listens to say all 4 lines of the music at once ( I know we all do) and this seems to be calming for those of us who think kind of on parallel
2.extreme sports...rock climbing , windsurf , hanggliding...anything that takes me to the edge seems to focus my thoughts on just the 1 thing...survival :).This is a wondrous thing for me since I am having to cope with about 4 parallel processors feeding my consciosness all at once.
3.my PC.I like to search for info on the net.Im really into games , RTS and FPS . Im actually pretty good as well , despite being 30+.Infact most pro team players are 18-25 so I may be losing my edge , but I think this is another area where my way of thinking is very helpful and 99% of players , even if quite fast ,seem to be weak on tactics and strategy.Just pray you dont meet me on the battlefield soldier !
4.statistcis and probability.I use this in my work a lot , creating models for stocks etc and Im also interested in "government statistics" which are almost always unscientific and mostly laughably simplistic.A classic one is "play classical music to your baby and she will be smarter"....this ignores the fact that parents who do this are also more conscietious in other ways. The 2 events are coincident but there is no causal relationship.Try "Freakonomics" , I disagree with much of the book for being too simple again but its a huge step in the right direction and thought provoking.

yes agreed.there must be groups of people out there who study just how much info is needed for various calculations like this....glad there are people out there much smarter than I :)

My sailing is fair weather in a Sunfish. What I am working on is very high speed through water.

As far as I see we spend energy creating a bow wave and a wake, tuna hit 50 knots without much effort, cavitation, or drag problems. The air water interface is my playground. Dreams turn into models, 300 Knots maybe.

Reality gets strange when stretched, after it is done there can be numbers, doing it just is.

high speed , nice. do you mean a wind powered boat could do 300 knots ? how much wind would you need for that in theory ? Im not much good on sailing theory but I do know i can go faster than the wind on my windsurfer , which a lot of people find hard to understand , and if they're Nts they can usually spot something funny about me and just call
I remember I saw the boat that nailed the 50 knot barrier , they brought it to the trading floor I used to work on ( yes it was a big building ) , I think looking for sponsors....it was in the foyer for a week or so , I didnt believe a boat could go faster than a windsurfer at the time but boy did it look good.I think windsurfers are at 49 knots now , and I know those guys are pissed they lost to a boat hehe
Ive sailed dinghies and cats a bit , I think the fun is in trying to squeeze the last 1/10th of a second out of a course ? or do you enjoy the cruising arnd at your own leisure part as well , its like having a car but with no traffic or stop signs

With wind we are pushing the limits, faster than the wind is about it.

I am a lazy sailor, I row, sailing should be less work.

Hunting fish in the swamps I learned a few things. I could drift by in a small boat like a log and watch in the shallows. If you want to catch fish, first you find out where they stay.

A large Bass caught my eye. They use the same hunting spots over and over. Seeing my outline above the boat, it kicked once, threw the shallow water up in a mound, up on the shore, and there was a slurping sound as cavitation drew in air.

It only moved forward a few foot, glided, then cocked it's tail to the side. When the pulse of it's first kick caught up, another motion of the tail sent it ten foot, and it waited, when it felt the pulse, it kicked again and was moving very fast when it vanished from view another twenty foot away. It was running in shallow water, and I saw the dirt stirred, a bulge on the surface, watched the wave spread, and saw it.

It's kick sent out a curved wave to the rear, which tried to compress water, and falling back focused the energy to where the fish was waiting. It took a gulp of water, forced it out through it's gills, creating a high pressure around it's body, and when the wave from behind hit, that fish was gone.

There was no cavitation, and no surface ripple. This fish knew something.

In the quest for high speed the Russians made a ship that moved so much water it dug a hole in the ocean. Jet powered freighters want to become water skis. Not a good idea for several thousand tons.

Tuna cruise at 50-60 knots, with little apparent effort. There are things we do not understand. High speed for us means high fuel bills, but 100 knot freighters would change world shipping. It is a problem worth working on.

So far it is impossible, my favorite kind of problem.
