I'm a guy in my early 20's, currently in college. I'm diagnosed on the spectrum. I think it was somewhere in my early teens when I figured out I was on the spectrum, official diagnosis came later though.

If you could, tell me why you like this community and why you post here. Stimulating conversations? Advice? Emotional support? A sense of community? Making friends? Boredom? Me, I just want people to talk to.

Hi! I came here looking for people to talk to as well. I haven't made friends on here yet, which is what I hope to do. I like posting on here because there is a sense of community, and sometimes you get advice and emotional support depending on what you post. Sometimes, I just come on here when I bored, so it's all the things you said. It's just nice knowing other people are going through what you are and have some similar interests. For example, what are you interested in? You could find a forum on here relating to one of your interests, and you might find people to talk to.

Hello. I am new here, as well. I am 36. My daughter and I are both on the spectrum. Divorced, so we both live with my mom, and I am looking for other adults that I can perhaps identify with.

Well the first thing you need to know is you never use your real name. Now possibly your screen name is a famous person like my screen name, and I just don't recognize it. If that's the case, fine. Otherwise though, I suggest you abandon this account and choose a different name, and possibly leave a message asking the moderators to delete your account owing to your mistake of using your own real name.

Most people are nice and decent, but there are also predators all over the Internet, and you need to look out for them.

Welcome to WP and I hope to chat with you soon under a different name!

Oops, did not mean to ignore the OP!

I like this community because I am a daughter and mother of aspies and it helps me understand myself and my family better, if I hear the experiences of others. Sometimes I get emotional support here, sometimes I give the same. All the "friends" I have made here are purely virtual friends - I don't mix my real and virtual lives. Sometimes this site is a buffer against boredom, specifically it gives me something to do that I can also back off from without any great loss. Autistic people need to walk the fine line between under- and over-stimulation.
