Hey guys, I'm not quite sure who I am or where I fit in but hopefully being on this forum will help me find myself a little more.

I'm 25, female, and from the UK and have struggled with mental health issues my whole life, having clinical depression from the age of 10 (they now think it's actually a personality disorder, go figure), OCD, anxiety, and I guess if the tests on the internet are true, aspergers.

Having not being formally diagnosed I don't really want to label myself as on the spectrum as I feel this is disingenuous but it would explain certain parts of my personality and behaviour.

Welcome Pips!

Feel you are suffering. Wish you will find your identity soon. It's excruciating not knowing who or what you are, truly feel for you. Having mental issues myself all my life, I can relate although every person deals with it in their own way and is unique.

If you feel you have Asperger's, follow that instinct. It's hard for females though, some get a misdiagnosis but try and voice what you feel even though you most likely have a lot of trouble doing that. Try writing it down if that is hard.

Wish you the best of luck and strength in your struggles, life often sucks for people like us but hold in there okay? You're a beautiful person, no matter what people say and deserve to be happy just like everyone else and deserve to be accepted. Stay safe and you can do it, I believe in you!

I think in the past females were more likely to be labeled with mental health problems than considered for a diagnosis of autism. Perhaps things are changing though. A diagnosis of ASC might explain a lot of your life.

I agree, I know many females who in the past had a diagnosis for borderline or bipolar disorder that got changed to ASD later when they found a good psychiatrist. Women do mask it better, adjust better to their surroundings so it is harder to pick up on but a good psychiatrist should see the signs.
