Hi everyone who may be interested. At 46 i have clarity of a sort. Diagnosed yesterday as being of AS and awaiting full breakdown of twigs and branches. I feel fine with it. I have a great family (wife and 3 boys all under 10). Wife has me hanging on a shoogly peg though. I have the ideal job for an aspie so this is a good distraction from the stresses of family life. Believe me it is like therapy. Disneyworld holiday starts next week....holy crap! First time. Boys were told this morning. 3 weeks of holiday. I am keen to chat and discuss AS with folk on here. Potentially meeting in time. I have to go now but basically here i am.

Welcome. Seems like you have your hands full with family goings on.
I prefer Pecorama which is like the Disneyland of trains. :) Only been there once. It was great!

That does sound great. Not happening this time though. Cheers.

I wonder what would that do to your healthcare insurability? I've been avoiding any formal testing to keep things off my "permanent record"

I have done it privately through a personal contact able to give an assured diagnosis. Nothing official as other people won't necessarily be understanding. I recognise your concern re your records.

Over the years I have taken my family many times to different amusement parks. Generally I am very focused on getting the most rides out of each trip which drives my family crazy. So now that I am getting older, I let my grown children do all the planning.

Disney World has changed quite a bit over the past few decades. When we went a few weeks ago, we all had Wristbands called Magic Bands. They are used for almost everything in the park. Instead of going through the admission and ticket lines, they just scan your band and then scan your fingerprint. Also you can load fastpasses onto the bands. So a ride that might require and hour or two waiting in line also has a fastpass line where the wait is in minutes. You can also access Early Morning Magic that will allow you to enter the park an hour early before the maddening crowd shows up. So you can be the first in line when the ride (in most demand) opens up. These wristbands also allow you to load meals and snacks. So when you are hungry or thirsty, you go to a vendor or restaurant and they scan you wristband and the cost is taken off your prepaid meals quota. It also unlocks the photo packages. Normally I would take my camera with me and shot photographs. But now there are thousands of photographers scattered about the park. Just let them scan your wristband and they will take your photograph. Later you can buy a package that includes all the digital photographs that were taken in the park. It saves the hassle of dragging a camera along with you. There are some special hidden places in the park where you can have video photographs taken. You go to a certain spot and a high resolution video camera a half mile away, zooms onto your location. For example, the video starts with a beautiful view of the castle and then zoom onto you and your family from a half a mile away. It is a neat effect. Some of the rides also have this feature. They integrate some animation of the ride and then add it to the front end of video of your family riding the ride's roller coaster. If you stay at one of the parks hotels, the wristband open the room to your hotel. It is an interesting concept. It can take most of the hassle away. Anyways a lot of the planning can be done upfront on the internet or your cell phones. So this time, I just left it all up to my grown kids, who led me from one ride to the next.

Have fun and enjoy Disney World.

Thank you for the disney world advice. I'm a bit annoyed about having to drive an automatic car but other than that and irrational fear of snakes and alligators all is well....can't wait for my kids to see the 747 they're getting on...
