What is your first name? Danielle

Age: 25

Location: Japan (for now, Born in Jamaica)

Hobbies and Interests: creative writing, drawing and role playing (text based RPG).

Why are you here? After my diagnosis, I found myself with a lot of questions and few answers. Irl I don’t know anyone else on the spectrum or diagnosed with anything really, so I’m looking for a community of people “more like me”. Wanna see what issues exist out there, how we’re handling them. All that jazz. I actually joined a few months back and have been reading through threads but I’m more of a lurker than a poster lol.

When were you diagnosed?(skip if you don't have a disorder): Diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder in Nov. 2019 so just after I hit 25.

Favorite subjects: French was, back in high school.

Year/Grade: N/A

Favorite music: really just depends on my mood but when listening to new songs, I listen for a certain note. If they hit that note, I tend to like the song.

Books: GoT series, His Dark Materials, Divergent Series (until the last book), Harry Potter series

TV shows/Movies: GoT, American Horror Story

Instrument: Lol good one

Do you like sports? I dislike sports but since coming to Japan I’ve discovered I like cycling for leisure.

Family: I’ve got a twin, two older half siblings, both my parents, a zillion cousins.

Clothing: I prefer comfort to fashion so whatever makes me feel comfy I guess. Mostly hoodies and shorts.

How did you find this website? my brain flipped the obsessed switch after I got diagnosed and I scoured the internet for any drop of autism information. At one point, a thread from this site showed up in my search results.

Job: Assistant Language Teacher

Plans for the future? I wanna go back to uni to study for my teaching qualifications.

Any comments?

Looking forward to reading more of your interesting threads! Feels good to finally find someplace where things and reactions make sense to me.

First Name: Hailey

Age: 16

Location: Orange County, California

Hobbies and Interests: Photography (sometimes), autism/ASD, religion (though I'm not religious), video games (sometimes)

Reason I'm here: I'm HFA

When were you diagnosed?: 2006 or 2007 (@ ~3 years old)

Favorite subjects: Chemistry, forensics, psychology

Year/Grade: 11th grade

Favorite music: NCS, The Wanted, anything danceable

Books: Speed of Dark, Flowers for Algernon, Lord of the Flies, and other novels (though I like nonfiction as well)

TV shows/Movies: No particular favorites

Instrument: Piano (formerly, decided I liked other things more)

Do you like sports? I do karate. I'm a 2nd-degree black belt.

Family: My mom, my dad, and my two sisters. One sister is 19 and the other is 15.

Clothing: I usually wear casual clothing. T-shirts and shorts when it's warm and T-shirts, hoodies, sweaters, and sweatpants when it's cold. I don't see a need to be super trendy or dress up all fancy.

How did you find this website? Found a bunch of threads from here while Googling autism-related stuff and became interested (especially considering that I'm autistic myself)

Job: None yet

Plans for the future? I want to be either a clinical psychologist or a forensic scientist.

Any comments? Not really. This is pretty self-explanatory.

So this is my first post! I didn't want to start a whole new thread just for my intro because... I dunno? It just feels uncomfortable to me.

What is your first name?
Micah, but most people online call me Mouka

Age:
Either 33 or 34, I forget at the moment haha

Location:
Stoughton, WI, it's a smallish town near Madison

Hobbies and Interests:
For hobbies I do a lot of hiking because nature is super calming, and engaging in all my special interests, so I watch a TON of Star Trek and take online classes/read books on human anatomy or just medical-related stuff in general. Also like collecting things and have random collections - DBZ figurines (three shelves full right now haha), Star Trek stuff, poker cards, tarot cards, enamel pins (I get soooo many poker cards and enamel pins on Kickstarter), Monster High dolls, ughhh all kinds of random stuff I take up at a whim...

Why are you here?
Finding like-minded people I guess, I mean I like Reddit and all but the subreddits aren't as active as a dedicated forum I think.

When were you diagnosed?(skip if you don't have a disorder):
I can't remember? i've been to so many therapists and got diagnosed with so many things before this, before they got it right - like social anxiety, OCD, schizophrenia (like REALLY? Schizophrenia? That was a weird one), etc. But I guess the social anxiety and OCD is a co-morbid thing.

Favorite subjects:
Human anatomy/physiology, theology and angelology, and I used to be into entomology but I sorta fell out of it

Year/Grade:
I don't know what this means? It's 2020 right now. Sorry.

Favorite music:
EBM/futurepop, 90s pop and 90s country, classic rock, a cappella, eurodance, old-timey swing stuff... Favourite bands and such right now are Pentatonix, Funker Vogt, Eiffel 65, Frank Sinatra, Lindsey Stirling, and Cascada, and my favourite song is Dana by Ali B.

Books:
Dracula, And Then There Were None, Good Omens, Gray's Anatomy, Sherlock Holmes stories, and the Remy Chandler series

TV shows/Movies:
Star Trek (all the series), Supernatural, Good Omens, Lucifer (all these shows with angels and demons haha), Seinfeld, CSI, Bones, Scrubs, and so many 90s cartoons... for movies I like the Men in Black series, all the Star Treks, Disney stuff, and Harry Potter.

Instrument:
Ha I wish. My favourite to listen to is violin though.

Do you like sports?
Welllll, I try to watch NFL with my husband and he always re-explains the rules but I always forget. I love soccer though and watch the German teams, but I don't know too much about the technical aspects of it. Also I know a weird amount about 90s NASCAR? I don't even like NASCAR.

Family:
I have a husband, and a daughter who is almost four, also a dog if that counts as fam

Clothing:
Very picky, I can't handle fabrics touching my neck so I wear LOTS of v-necks and wide-neck-almost-to-the-shoulders shirts. Very baggy shorts, but I'll begrudgingly put on pants if I have to leave the house in the winter - usually jeans and only Banana Republic which are annoyingly expensive but for some reason the only ones I can handle.

How did you find this website?
Searched Reddit for popular forums

Job:
Just stay-at-home parent, I'm on disability for my non-24 disorder (it's a sleep thing) and epilepsy

Plans for the future?
Hmmmm... well, right now I want to memorize all the muscles in the human body and also finish my Enterprise model. My mind kinda goes blank when I think about long-term future stuff.

Any comments?
Hi!
