Hi! Welcome to Wrongplanet!

I hope you will find some very interesting forums here, as well as the facts about neurotypicals you're looking for.

Hey. I've probably got AS, based on the puzzle pieces that have started to come to light over the past couple months.

I want to use this site to start learning what is "normal" ("neurotypical" would probably be a better, more politically-correct word, I guess) so that I can actually start functioning in society. If this is just a site where people cry and moan about something they think is a problem, please let me know now so I can go elsewhere. Thanks!

Howdy,

It's what you make it here. There are some that like the pity party, but if it works for them, then that's cool. You'll see venting and ranting, that's cool too. Me? Depends on where on the site you catch me, for the most part I just enjoy the company of those I relate to better. And I sure do relate well here. I'm not so sure this is the place to learn what normal is, but rather coping skills to get ya through the day, sometimes. I've learned what normal is and it ain't me. Wouldn't want to be even if they offered it. But like I said, it's what you make it and the people here are just amazing and I have met but a few.

Welcome home. :)

UGA? Utah Golf Association? Are you saying you have a (golf) handicap? If you think that, you have indeed come to the wrong place indeed. We're pro's, we don't need no stinkin handicap.

Haha...I guess I better brush up on my golf skills then!

You're right about normal. I have a general idea of how normal people's minds work, if you could call them minds. As much as AS people are accused of following scripts in their heads, I've found that "neurotypical" people don't seem to deviate much from their own patterns. They talk about the same stupid thing (albeit different variations, such as "I bought X at the store today!" where X is the latest amazing thing to talk about).

It is good to see that there's an actual community of similar people. That in itself helps tremendously.

Some of use call it that AHA!! moment, when we discover this "label". For many of us it was a big gulp of fresh air. Things in our past just kind of fell into place.

I kind of like Jung's statement, show me someone that's normal and I can fix them. I suppose we have to have the labels to get anything discussed at times. For me, mostly, I try to steer away from them.

I was at a fancy smancy golfing place and a big big big line of older gents behind, waiting to tee off. I might have been 14 or 15, never golfed in my life. I took a mighty swing at the golf ball with everyone looking on, it trickled off the tee and went about 15 feet. You could hear the loud moan from the on lookers. I had a good time.
