Age: 53

Location: South East London (UK)

Hobbies and Interests: Hobbies - BBQ, cooking & baking, reading, poetry, cycling. Interests - art, architecture, autism (like most of us probably), how things are made/work, history (everyday history rather than the big stuff), moths, pretty much everything really

Why are you here? Everyone has to be somewhere. Seriously, when you're lost in the woods of your own autism, sometimes someone else's experiences and views can be a guide.

When were you diagnosed?: Self diagnosed with the help of a retired doctor in 1988, official diagnosis in 2021 after a complete breakdown.

Favorite subjects (at school): History, Geometrical & Engineering Drawing.

Year/Grade: School - 8 O-levels, 4 A-levels. After school - NVQ level 8. (Along the way became a qualified telephone switchboard operator, and obtained a CPC Transport Operations (National & International)

Favorite music: Americana/American folk, blues, riff jazz, big band, rockabilly, heavy metal, and 80's goth.

Books: Total bookworm - everything!

TV shows/Movies: Probably only watch about 10 hours of TV a week, mostly the news, documentaries, and quizzes like University Challenge and Only Connect.

Instrument: Zero musical talent. If I could learn any instrument and play it well I would love to learn the hurdy-gurdy.

Do you like sports? The Olympics, and cycling mostly. Cycle myself but just for recreation and headspace.

Family: No wife or kids, parents deceased, a bit estranged from the rest of the family.

Clothing: Whatever's comfortable. Childishly like T-shirts with stupid slogans on them.

How did you find this website? Not sure, probably looking for something else at the time, felt like home so I might stay for a while.

Job: Target for management hostility! Appointed Person (Lifting Operations), Crane Supervisor (Lifting Operations) working with mobile cranes.

Plans for the future? Learn to draw and cycle more.

Favorite subjects: n/a

Year/Grade: n/a

Favorite music: I like different kinds of music such as Rock, Pop, classic, movie and video game scores

Books: I don’t really read that much but I do read mainly the art of (insert name), art and animation related books. And Manga (which is a recent thing)

TV shows/Movies: Anime (too many good shows and movies to choose from) and 2D classic Disney movies (like Juggle Book, Aladdin and Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs)

Instrument: Keyboard (currently learning in my spare time)

Do you like sports?: Used to play football (soccer). I like to watch Cricket and Football (international games)

Favorite music:At the moment it’s 90’s rave music, The Doors, Van Halen.

Books:Too many... So yeah... I guess Percy Jackson and Beautiful Creatures.

TV shows/Movies: Frozen, Six the musical.

Instrument: I tried guitar but I'm very bad at it

Do you like sports? I love badmington.

Family: Currently living with my mom and Fiancée but I have a brother and a beautiful nephew.

Clothing: I'm very inclined to leggings with baggy shirts or dresses. I usually pick something royal blue, exuberant pink, emerald green or purple.

if you visit the forums and look at days or times of postings on the various threads , you may find some are more active than others . Enjoy wandering around on the site. And eventually you may get a feel for how things here work .. It took me a very long time to sort the forums and replies.

welcome anna, wrong planet is still going even if it isn't quite as strong as it was back in the day. and you should be more stubborn with your guitar, i was very bad at it also up until a few years ago [very stubborn am i], now i am only moderately bad at guitar. you can do better than me, i know this.

Hi, everyone - I've visited this forum before, years ago, but I've found my way back today. It feels more relevant to me than ever.

Hobbies and Interests:My dogs, walking, reading, nature photography, cross stitch.

Why are you here? I'm looking for help accepting myself for who (what?) I am, and to talk to people who understand me and can help me deal with the world.

When were you diagnosed?(skip if you don't have a disorder): I don't have a formal diagnosis, but I'm increasingly certain that I'm either strongly Aspie or high-functioning autistic. It explains so much about the way I feel and about things that have happened in my lifetime. I will probably never get an official diagnosis - the NHS waiting list is anything up to 3 years and I can't afford to go private.

Favorite subjects: Biology, English.

Favorite music: Pretty varied. Anything from Papa Roach to The Alan Parson's Project via Madness...

Books: Autobiographies, and stories based on fact. I've just finished Lily and the Octopus - I howled.
