My special interest at the moment is basically anything autism related. To a lesser extent (though it used to be the main thing), I'm also quite interested in history, with a particular fancy for the social movements of the 1950s-ish to the 90s, especially if relating to queerness in some way *or* my primary interest.

I never knew what this was called ("specialist subject") until right now.

I guess my lifetime subject would be music. I currently have 19,938 lossless (mostly FLAC, some ALAC, some others) songs in my collection that I have paid for, and probably twice that in mp3 from... various old sources. I can recite the lyrics to most of them or at least parts of the lyrics to all of them. I'm the original Bumblebee, LOL-- I can literally talk using lyrics alone.

My son's "specialty" is electronics. It's scary. He can tell you all of the chips in your phone, computer, whatever down to the die level, and tell you how to hack each one.

I'm also currently way too deep into studying cryptocurrencies and blockchain-related things.

For fun I've been studying astronomy (not astrology). My newest toy is a 10" Orion f/8 (I like taking pictures :)). For the last month or so I've been looking at the golden gates of the ecliptic. Fun, except for the cold....

Oh, and I can legitimately use the prefix "Dr." But it sounds lame when you have to say, "not THAT kind of doctor." Hah.

When I was young, I had a few. For example, I tried to create the sharpest pencil in the world. I spent hours sharpening it. But many of my subject fell more into the normal category. As I grew up, I kept adding more and more subjects to the list. The world is a very mysterious place. So at this point, my interest are so wide they spread to regions such as what happened before the Big Bang. And what major event will occur in the next couple hundred years that will almost bring an end to humanity.
