I am a late diagnosis and unfamiliar with posting things. I'm not a computer-person and just getting used to messaging, too, so...

I'm also guessing this is kind of the way of the world now (even though I'm not all that comfortable with it). This site I've had bookmarked for a while as it's been recommended to me enough, but I've just now gone into it. I knew that if I did nothing, nothing would happen.

So, where do I go from here? I guess I just start with a "Hi!" and see what happens.

Hey there.
That's one way to do it! :D

Welcome to WP! I hope you find it a nice place to hang out.

Where do you go from here? Well, the boring part is you should probably checkout the rules. I don't think you'll find anything onerous but it seems like a reasonable start.

Then you might want to wander around and find some topic areas that interest you and frequent them. If you find a discussion gets unpleasant please just leave the discussion, not the Planet.

That's what I do...and you can see to the left that I've posted a few times.

Welcome to Wrong Planet.

I came very late to the party. I knew very little about forums. But it does grow on you.

I’m glad you are here.

Welcome to Wrong Planet :D

I actually had used forums on various subjects before coming here. For each of my recent special interests, of course. Although, having been long self diagnosed, I suddenly realized there was this neurodiversity movement where people were open about their ASD. A google search quickly found this place and local support groups too. Until I went down the rabbit hole of ASD information, I only attributed ASD to a fraction of my traits which it is connected too. I didn't even know about sensory issues.

welcome! It takes a while to sort it all out from this new perspective. Be patient and kind to yourself, ask lots of questions and be assured you are not alone. There are others here who will understand.

Thank you all for the warm welcome. I was nervous and thought, "Oh, I don't want to look. I did a post. That's good enough. I'll just go on with life and never come back here." How silly of me, right? As I slowly build up confidence, I'll check around, read and reply to posts, and kind of get acquainted with everyone and the environment. I'm sure we're all different in many, many ways, but I'm sure many of us have been through the exact same stuff I have. I've found a place that may help point me in the right direction in life. Thanks again!

I'm glad you decided to return. And I am pretty sure quite a few others agree with me on that!

Hi gearjammer,

I'm kind of in the same boat as you. I don't use social media and not sure how these boards/posts work. Just joined yesterday.

Well, thank you all again for the welcome. Today, I'm going to try and figure this place out and post a new post in whatever category I'm supposed to post it in. Then again, maybe I'll just welcome some newbies to start off with. Ugh! Social media, IMs, texts, and so forth. Whatever happened to a good ol' phone call or letter? Oh, wait! I ignored those, didn't I? Welp! Here goes nothing! Time to get the feet wet.

IMO, it's absolutely okay to not use social media at all.
