Hi Everyone!

So...apparently I've been suspecting I have autism for like...12 years now. I found this forum (again) last night and went to join up, but as it turns out, I already had an account from, like, 2010!

Anywho! I'm Tabitha. Nearly 41 year old wife of 11 years and a mom to a just turned 16 year old son with autism as well. I'm the full time breadwinner at home, and work as a supervisor at a casino here in Florida.

I recently started suspecting that I'm autistic, back last August or September. I've done a million of those online test thingies, and always score really high. I have no interest in wasting the money on a formal diagnosis, as I have many actual health problems I can't really afford to have addressed (such as Ehlers-Danlos, Auditory Processing Disorder which I am in treatment for now, congenital hip dysplasia, and probably some kind of dysautonomia). I have self-diagnosed and am both very happy and very confident in the self-assessment. I am also starting to think I may be ADHD as well, but I've been having to knock down a lot of stereotypical prejudices while working out that one.

Well, thanks for having me! I'm on a good few autism for women groups on Facebook, but it's nice to be in another group/forum where I'm around My People! Interacting with the neurotypical drains me so much!

Welcome to WP! I hope you find interactions her to be pleasant.

P.S. If a thread turns unpleasant maybe you could just leave the thread, not the whole planet.

Hi! Welcome to Wrong Planet!

In addition to taking tests and interacting in the Facebook groups mentioned later in your post, I would guess you've also done quite a bit of reading about autism? If you haven't yet encountered the following websites/blogs, run by autistic women, you might find them to be useful sources of info:

- Everyday Autistic, formerly Everyday Aspergers, by Samantha Craft
- Musings of an Aspie
- The Autism section of NeuroClastic

As you may or may not have already learned by now, Ehlers-Danlos and Auditory Processing Disorder are both relatively common among autistic people (though not all autistic people have them).

Yes, it's great to have the online autistic community. I hope you enjoy Wrong Planet!
