We're all different...but I do NOT want a cure for my (mild) Autism.

I think in many ways it helped me...a lot.

(It also often made me unhappy a lot, but, strictly speaking, it wasn't the Autism that did that, it was NTs!)

What are the unforeseen side effects of this cure?

I've gotta cure, it's just rather permanent.
Also, I've got The Cure, who have also turned out to be quite enduring.

No.

In fact, if there would be a magic switch which I could use one time and set it to either "become a regular human" or "get as close to being a sentient machine as possible", I would choose the latter. Things which make us human are poison and distraction for the mind.

That is an excellent point.

If I suddenly became allistic due to a "cure", basically every ability I have due to my autism (noticing patterns, following rules and routines, etc.) and that I've relied on to function my whole life wouldn't be nearly as developed anymore, so I'd just have to figure out how to redo 21 years of learning how to function and thrive as I am now, which seems like an unnecessarily stressful nightmare. So, no. I don't want a "cure".

If other people want a "cure" and to redo years and years of development, that's fine, but I don't get why I would ever want to do that.

Cure what I define as my defect, not "autism".

A cure right now, probably not. The transition would be horrific, my current life is very unsuited to an NT human and would take a lot of time and effort to change at this point, probably even having the skills and abilities I lack. The only thing that really benefits me about my ASD is the ability to live the sort of life I have (or rather, don’t have) because of it and actually greatly improve with isolation and such.

If I could have been born without autism, I wouldn’t hesitate even a moment to take the opportunity. Without it, I would not be the same person, but the thing is, I don’t like who I am. It would be nice to at least be able to function properly in this world (if that’s where I must exist), and the communication abilities I lack because of my autism would go a long way toward achieving that.

The only part I might want to adjust is my SPD.
Particularly smellophobia and photophobia.
