No I'm not a witch. ^ I like cemeteries because of the history, ghost stories because of metaphysics, and bad weather because it's cosy to stay inside. Also, my eyes don't like bright sun.
Why are you here? I love writing. The word games helped me with word fluency after I had a stroke, and I think better when I can see my words in written form. I use WP to think and to explore what's going on in my feelings. I like the music and the book suggestions, and it's fun to debate ethics.
It's nice to meet people who kind of understand autism.

Hi Nikki! Nice to meet you. Thanks for standing up.
You sound like a really fun person; We have some things in common. Spanish is my first second language, and I learned quite a bit of French by osmosis because my mother was always watching French in Action lessons.
And I love English language literature. I have my MA in that.
I notice you love The Twilight Zone. I grew up on those. I wonder if you have seen the new ones, with Jordan Peele, from 2019-2020. Nobody could ever replace Rod Serling, of course, but I am very impressed with how the new episodes retain the spirit of the originals, while also being well suited to our present times.
And there are many delightful inside jokes for you and me, for people who are familiar with the Rod Serling series.
You take care and stay healthy now!
Mark
What is your first name? Nicole or Nikki. I can’t decide which.
Age: 38
Location: PA
Hobbies and Interests: Playing the piano, reading, studying Spanish and French, playing video games, and cooking
Why are you here? Why are any of us here? What does it all mean? Where are we all going?
When were you diagnosed? I was diagnosed when I was 30 with ASD level 1.
Favorite subject: Literature
Favorite music: Classical music from the Romantic period, but I enjoy other periods and types of music as well. I like lots of singer/songwriter-type stuff.
Books: There’s so many that it’s hard to pick a few, but here are some of my favorites:
Jane Eyre
Bleak House
David Copperfield
The Awakening
Mrs. Dalloway (I love Virginia Woolf)
The Hobbit
Lord of the Rings
TV shows/Movies: I love old movies, especially Alfred Hitchcock’s. Some modern movies I like are: Black Swan, Lord of the Rings trilogy, and The Hours. I’m not a big TV person, but I used to watch Star Trek, The Twilight Zone, and Will and Grace.
Instrument: Piano
Do you like sports? No way!
Family: I have a son. My brother is my BFF.
Clothing: Comfy and somewhat bohemian.
How did you find this website? I think I found it when I was researching autism when I was pre-diagnosis. I lurked without posting for 2 years.
Job: Special Education Teacher
Plans for the future? I want to get better at my languages and the piano. I also want to do interesting things, like travel.
Wow! Isabella. It is so great to meet you. I could practically write a monograph on all we have in common.
I have an MA in English language literature, and I am just starting another bachelor's degree in philosophy. I have been hip-deep in Plato for a while now. I adore Shakespeare, and Winnie-the-Pooh is my great personal hero. I wonder if you have read The Little Prince? Benjamin Hoff?
I love Michael C. Hall, Harper Lee, and gods, I so miss Robin Williams! I once saw him at a live taping of Mork and Mindy back in 1980. But Dead Poet's Society was a life-altering experience for me!
Thank you so much for standing up. I would love to get to know you if that's all right.
Stay healthy!

Hi there …nonnomish,, welcome to the planet….hope you find your visits here to be good ones, and perhaps enjoy some of the often curious opinions in the forums here ..
By your intro, you sound quite talented . Hope your Space community concept blossoms further.
Am older and not familiar with some of the things you wrote about . … but music is always appreciated .
We have some people here that are involved in Sound restoration on a in-depth level . Finding them could be another issue , here. We have a few savants here, but never seen one eager to make it widely known on this site .?
Often their posts give them away.
But you may find that often savants are fairly good in specific fields , It does sound like you have been able to make a wide variety of things as your specialized interests ….
Seems , people here are a broad swath across the spectrum . Good luck with your future endeavors they sound like brilliant ones .

I just realised that I should do this, about time that I introduced myself.
What is your first name? Drew
Age: 47
Location: ACT, Australia
Hobbies and Interests: Advocacy, Reading, Computers (not games), volunteering, blogging, music, photography, videography & editing, design. Self-help, living life to help others, with intent. Creativity and ideas...
Why are you here? Information, community, support
When were you diagnosed? ASD2(2020) ADHD(1994)
Comorbids:
Depression forever
2006 M.E. post Glandular fever (Infectious Mononucleosis)
2021 Congestive heart failure (LVEF 23%!)
Favorite subject: Too many! Books, TV, advocacy, ableism, spirituality, self-help.
Favorite music: Clear vocals and meaningful or poetic lyrics, a nice catchy rhythm or beat, in many genres. Alternative mainly, some country, some EDM/dance. Used to DJ a little once upon a time @ Uni. Been trying to get my hand back in and learn Ableton, which is a talented and complicated beast.
Whitlams, Leonard Cohen, Nick Cave, Paul Kelly, Fatboy Slim, Avicii
Books: So so many that it’s hard to pick a few, but here are some of my faves:
Kurtherian Gambit & much of Michael Anderle.
Harry Potter and the Methods of Rationality (Harry Potter re-written without plot holes, and the scientific method!)
Hard Scifi, ala Heinlein, some urban fantasy
Some Poetry, classics, Kafka
Neil Gaiman, Terry Pratchett, Douglas Adams
TV shows/Movies: Grey's Anatomy, Doctor Who, Special, Atypical, Goddess of 1967, Happiness, Across the Universe, The West Wing, True Blood, Something Somewhere, Queer As Folk, The Good Doctor, actually lots of medical shows.
I struggle with depression, more so since getting M.E. 16 years ago, and I get both hope and dark hope in the everpresent shadow of death in medical drama.
"The best thing about M.E. is it doesn't kill you*. The worst thing about M.E. is it doesn't kill you."
* (often)
Instrument: used to play brass, learning to create on Novation Launchpad + LaunchKeys now.
Do you like sports? No to watch on TV, pre 2006 used to be into mountain-biking a lot, runner & love snowboarding.
Family: Divorced no kids, extended family history of ADHD & ASD.
Clothing: As little as possible! I'm heat-intolerant, so often in shorts and bare feet even in midwinter.
Light, so linen, and lycra and breathable clothes all the time.
How did you find this website? I think I found it when googling PDA
Job: IT Manager, networking, computer trainer etc.
Plans for the future? Many! Possibly way too big plans of differing degrees
- 1. I'd like to get the most diverse Star named for Neurodiversity & ASD
- 2. Snail4.me - A non-profit that helps people with physical & fatigue-related disabilities participate more in life.
- 3. A more inclusive 'Games' - The Paralympics only allows about 10% of people with disabilities to compete, and not us. I've been working on getting an alternative going, slowly.
Many people with disabilities can't actually physically compete, or bear being amongst such huge crowds.
I'd like to create a distributed, online and offline 'games' that is truly inclusive.
The Paralympics is all about the medical model of disability, what we can't do, adaptive sports not creative sports. I want to focus on what we can do, and what we want to do, not what other people do or think we should do.
OllyMEpics4.MEYes, it started off with a joke about people like me, with M.E.
Sometimes also called Post Viral Syndrome, or Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, but more by media than informed people :s

Very Cool , you have wide and varied interests .. Am so sorry about your ME diagnosis …
And Lived your Cartoon .. it was very fun and poignant .. Have had Lyme and ME diagnosis in my life .
But no effective treatments are really allowed in this country . Our AMA will not allow it , many medical break though are banned here , due to strength of the medical profession lobby in our government .
Have physical disabilities and others issues . Myself thank you for being here .

Ah, good to meet you, and yes, sorry to hear for you too.
Yeah, situation is not much better here. Some doctors prescribe LDN, but expensive and complicated process to get it, and harder where I live.
Can't claim authorship/artistship? of the cartoon, but yes, it's good hey!
It does miss out the sequential fire hoops of medical hierarchy and scepticism.
Not to mention hurdles at differing height and distance to find and see specialists.

Diverse4me completely understand well the challenges of trying to get treatment for those conditions .
Could just barely afford travel to see people Doctors .. then trying to find ones whom literally can actually
Provide worthwhile real treatments .Over a hundred US miles to just to get to one appointment. Unless you
Live in a non served area , then you hope to find anybody at all who even has understanding of your condition .
Have had successful treatments that gave me extra life ,that took a lot to get through ( side effects) of
Treatment . Some docs have allowed for video appointments, which is a help , but you actually feel like you need to be there , to get a real assessment of your actual health condition . Then you contrast The dummy docs that might not believe a actually (testable for ) disease that shows up in your blood Will make you feel bad for even bringing the topic up . Even worse here finding a real bonafide recognized Lab that can do testing for these disease processes.
And it goes on from there . The blood draws if not checked and tested for ,while the blood is fresh needs specialized cold shipping requirements . The test could come back as a false negative . Which probably would make most
Regular Doctors happy , Then finding a doctor whom might being willing to do proper testing protocols .
SIGHes Sorry to go on . But it has been hard learned lesson in dealing with Medical establishments.
Am hoping your symptoms are mild as possible .

I get it Jakki,
We've all had to struggle with doctors who think they know what they don't know. I've been lucky; I have a full-service hospital ten minutes from me. That dosen't mean they all always get it.
I am very fortunate to have found a really great bunch now.
I am so sorry for your headaches. I hope you will find the resources in time and energy to stick it out, and that you find what you need.
If there is any way we can support you...!

You words are supportive ..Thank you for you kind words … it was a rough road to find a competent doctor , whom would not quit until the medical association Sued her three times , finally it was too much for her and her family and gave up her medical license. Have not been able to find one like her since. And symptoms have returned in full force.
But am combating them as best as a person can do holistically . Thank you for your reply
