Hello. I've tried joining this website several times, but I've always been afraid to take the plunge. How can I put this? I have an image in my mind of what a person with Aspergers' is like and that image comes from myself. I'm ashamed of what I look like and of my disability. I've always preferred to be in the company of people who don't have any disabilities, but I figured that it was time to get to know some people who have what I have. I just hope I can stick around. I tend to drift from board to board...I hope to work well around here, though.

Jcaps welcome to wrongplanet, i also have aspergers. I dont really care that i have it, 27 yrs not knowing what i had and now i'm just happy that i know what is going on. most people with aspergers who are adults had some kind of dramatic event, such as family deaths, and or suffered from bullying in school and most of them have anxiety disorder, ptsd, add, adhd, ocd or thing related.

What makes you think Asperger's Syndrome is a disability? I'm willing to bet half the rocket scientists on the planet are Aspies. Do you consider them "disabled"?

Have fun here, it's a fun place if you let it be so. :)

Oh, pleased don't be ashamed. I'm a bit ashamed of my just diagnosed diabetes because I caused it, but I'm not ashamed of having asperger's. Aggravated sometimes, but not ashamed. As for appearance, Abraham Lincoln said that God must love ugly people because He made so many of them.
