Hello.

Name- Sorry not saying. (Hubby said "no real names or people photos")

Age-30

Location- Montana

Hobbies and interests- Well... My daughter, horses, art, history, genetics, religion, paleontology, behavior (animal, human, and otherwise), anthropology, animals in general, and how to afford more horses.

Why I am here- Refuge, for me and mine.

When was I diagnosed- my daughter was diagnosed with autism when she was 19 months. I haven't been diagnosed but I suspect I am an aspie.

Favorite subject-It depends on what I saw, read, thought about, stepped in, or tripped over on any given day.

Year/Grade-Well... Let's see... Wheeze... Back in 1994 I dropped out of high school and took my GED cause I had better things to do. (not bitter about a stifling adolescence or nothin')

Favorite Music- OOH... Anything from Patsy Cline to Static x.

Favorite Books- Hard to say. changes. But I do really like David Weber.

Favorite t.v. shows and movies- I don't watch a lot of t.v. I would have to think about it. I'm sure I have gained something from a thoughtful movie, but for the most part stimulation from that particular media endeavor seems to roll off of me like water from a ducks back.

Do I like sports- I have always sought out physical activity. I like to run, and ride horseback, I used to play basketball and was in track in high school.

Family- My daughter, is very much the center of my universe. My husband and I are very close. My mother and I get along most of the time, and my father and I circle each other a little bit but respect each other and get along. Both my parents and my in-laws are supportive. the rest of my immediate family lives close, but those relationships range from apathetic to hostile.

Clothing-again, depends on a lot of things. But usually jeans and a t-shirt.

How did I find this web site-I was concerned with some of the media attitudes about autism, and was looking for support. After a web search here I am.

job-Stay at home mom/ free-lance artist.

plans for the future- I would like to be able to get the wounded albatross that is my art "career" off of the ground, get a successful breeding program for my horses going so they are self-sustaining, so my daughter may have a niche; (she is as horse-crazy as I am.) I am considering going back to school to be a special-education teacher as a "real job", but only time will tell.

Any comments- Glad to have found you. :o

What is your first name? Trilby
Age: 29 (I prefer calling it desperately holding onto my twenties)
Location: socal (wishing I was back home in England, or back in Rhode Island - on the island)
Hobbies and Interests: my dogs & other pets, drawing, reading, building things (huge tree limb recently fell out of one of our trees, so I brought it into the house, added shelves & made a cat tree our of it - pictures at request) also building an indoor water wall.
Why are you here? To meet others like myself.
When were you diagnosed?: July 6th 2007. I found out reading a thread on Autism in a Harry Potter forum of all things. Never even heard (or maybe it didn't sink in) what aspergers was. Before bringing a boat load of info to my doctor I was treated for other things, otherwise misdiagnosed. I still haven't recovered from the whirlwind that struck. Didn't realize (still learning) just how much of your life AS can effect.
Favorite music: I like most anything, though less country & hardly any rap (maybe two songs from the 90's)
Books: Harry Potter, LOTR, Anne Rice, Dean Koontz, John Edward, Enid Blighton. I love books for all ages & tastes, I could go on & on.
TV shows/Movies: The X-Files, Northern Exposure, Ghost Hunters, Millennium (I'll watch anything from 1013) LA Ink (would like to have be an ink slinger myself - if in a normal life) Big People Little World, Deadliest Catch, Criss Angel, Men in trees, Americas Next top model (normally don't like this show, but I'm hooked in a bizarre way), Kyle XY (only watch for Nick Lea from XF), Crossing over with John Edward, Lisa Williams, Deal or no Deal. I really only make time for the first five. Movies: HP, LOTR, Indiana Jones, Medicine Man, Horse Whisperer, French Kiss, & many many more. Most recently added favourite is the Illusionist.
Instrument: Guitar & Piano. I'd love to learn violin.
Do you like sports? I really enjoy playing them for fun. I hate competition. I could shoot a mean hoop from half-court in high school. The coach begged myself & then my family to join the team. I hated the crowds & traveling though. Never happened.
Clothing: Jeans, girls t-shirt & converse sneakers. Camo too... I love camo. I can hide.
How did you find this website? Link given on another board/list when I posted about AS.
Plans for the future? Too many things wrong with me to make plans. I don't expect to hang around too long, I can't see myself as old anyway.
Any comments? Glad to finally know why I've felt like I've been swimming against the stream all my life. Even happier to have found a group who are the same. 8)

What is your first name? Rachel

Age: 16

Location: missouri

Hobbies and Interests: I like art, writing, video games, and music

Why are you here? I want to learn as much as possible about aspergers and instead of the encyclopedia, I thought It'd probably be more helpful to talk to people who actually experience it. The reason for all of this is because I've fallen in love with someone who has it. He doesn't know/ probably isn't interested, but he's still my friend and I want to make him happy.

When were you diagnosed?(skip if you don't have a disorder): i'm not diagnosed with anything

Favorite subjects: Anything that isn't math-related.

Year/Grade: 10

Favorite music: alternative

Books: too many to name

TV shows/Movies: again, alot, since I love movies. I'll just name some genres. Horror and comedy are my absolute favorites. I can usually get into a sci-fi movie too.

Instrument: ha, yeah right.

Do you like sports? NO. Except dodgeball, if only because it reminds me of my childhood.

Family: devorced family

Clothing: in between sizes in EVERYTHING I wear! Its very aggravating.

How did you find this website? google.

Job: none yet but I've always wanted to work at a book store. I love the atmosphere there. And the abundance of coffee.

Plans for the future? I don't know anymore... feel less depressed?

Any comments?
Just... nice to meet you all :D

What is your first name? Shaun - Weirdest spelling ever.

Age: 30

Location: Chicago area. Evanston to be specific.

Hobbies and Interests: I play DDR, watch Anime, play tons of Video games, and I just finished my first novel.

Why are you here? Got fed up with feeling alone in this. I needed some

Favorite music: May sound mean, but... anything except country. Well... I like Kenny Rogers and his ilk, so I guess I should make an addendum: anything but bad country.

Books: Impossible. I've made a list of my favorite authors though. I need to update, though... it's looking kinda stale.

TV shows/Movies: Most definitely South Park, Family Guy, Robot Chicken, Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Sealab 2021, and... well, I think you get the picture.

Instrument: My brain. I grew up poor and since I never expressed an interest in anything but self analysis and indulging my esoteric imagination, I never cared about learning. But on occasion, I've found that I can string together several simultaneous types of instruments in virtual "tracks" and thereby mentally compose orchestras, so I've added learning music to my list of needs so I can get some of that on paper before I croak.

Do you like sports? If you consider DDR a sport, then yes. Otherwise, there's no logical reason I would. Never have, and I likely never will.

Family: Puts the fun in disfunctional. I try to forget most of them exist, save two of my uncles and my mother. Not married... yet, but it ain't out of the question.

Clothing: Yes, thank you. ;)

How did you find this website? The great and almighty Google.

Job: Currently I'm a Database Administrator. Though if my book sells well, that'll be my new vocation of choice.

Plans for the future? I've got a serious heart condition, and I've found living for the future is a bad idea. But I walk the path of life like anyone else, and I sometimes take a branch that looks more fun than another. So, I think I want to write for a while, and see how that goes.

Any comments? I've known since probably around 2000, maybe early 2001, that there's actually a name for my weird brain structure, and I wish I knew earlier. I could have read the research, concentrated on coping and adaptation techniques, and so on. Instead, I just felt out of place and started getting depressed. It's like having to use your brain to mentally control your legs while walking... it's slow and irritating, looks humorous to the uninitiated, and seems more a chore than is necessary. Most people under that scenario would just give up on walking entirely. It's a daily struggle, but I overcame death, so I won't let this stop me either.

Age: 20

Location: I live with the Taur'i, on Long Island.

Hobbies and Interests: storm chasing, reading, singing, photography, philosophy, comics, classic cars, sci-fi and fantasy

Why are you here? I have ADD and a learning disability (and possibility something related to Autism, but not sure), and my partner has Asperger's.

Favorite music: anything that doesn't promote hate and violence

Books: The one I am reading at the moment is called The Mists of Avalon. And my mom loves science fiction, and I wanted to see why she liked it so much, so I read one of her Asimov's issues. I like sci-fi a lot too now.

TV shows/Movies: My favorite show of all time is Xena: Warrior Princess. I'd make her and Gabby president and vice president, if it were up to me. And maybe Laura Roslin and Vala Mal Doran as cabinet members. And Bill Nye the Science Guy as something, but I'm not sure what. My favorite movie is Hitchcock's masterpiece, Psycho. The soundtrack cannot be surpassed, and neither can the ending *toothy grin*

Instrument: I have been playing my grandma's piano since I was five, I think. It is the most beautiful-sounding instrument.

Do you like sports? My dad was a handball champion when he was really young, and he taught me how to play, so I like handball. Plus, if there's a WNBA game on, count on me watching it (or going to see it at the arena with my mom), and of course, the Mets and Yankees. I especially love watching the Olympics.

Family: I'm surprised I have any hair left.

Clothing: I wear whatever is comfortable. But I never like dressy things, or skirts, because it's too girly. Well, too stereotypically girly, anyway.

How did you find this website? GoodSearch

Job: For now, I walk pets. They make me feel better if I'm having a bad day. My own dog does also. He comes over to me and gives me a sad look, then he sits with me and lets me hug him.

Plans for the future? move to Oklahoma and work for the National Severe Storms Laboratory, and help save lives by making warning systems more efficient and effective. Also, I really want to meet Anne Hathaway, Renee O'Connor, and Gloria Stienem.

Any comments? "Indeed."
