i initially didn't want to make an account for this website because i'm not the best at keeping up with this kind of thing, but my therapist really encouraged me to reach out so this is what i'm doing now.

i don't have a solid name yet but people call me vee, it or they works fine. i was recently diagnosed with asd as well as adhd, with alexithymia and low empathy levels. i'm moreso hoping to get insight on the stuff i feel (or lack thereof) and just validation, since i've only just started to join into communities like these. thanks and bye

one of the best things about my late diagnosis is that I was able to understand that there are many others out there with similar experiences, this group is full of others "like me" who can relate, who can give insights, who can explain in ways that the "real world" in general can not. I dug a little deeper and noted that you identified your condition as Asperger (Asperger's syndrome or an Aspie for short). I have this condition also.

Since you are 18, you still have a lot of time to develop your unique skill set. Use your time wisely.

You also said that you have alexithymia and low empathy levels.

According to the internet - Alexithymia is a term to describe problems with feeling emotions. In Greek, it loosely translates to “no words for emotion.” It is estimated that 1 in 10 people has alexithymia, but it is much more common in those with depression and in autistic people. 1 in 5 autistic people have alexithymia.

That is not necessarily a bad characteristic. You are like Mr. Spock in the original Star Trek series on TV.
