Hello.

I created an account here in hopes that perhaps I will find other people who are high functioning like myself but still struggle daily with the ongoing realities of ASD.

I’m a late twenties husband and father who loves his family very much and wants to be the strongest version of myself possible for them. My love for my wife and child keeps me strong and hopeful.

I was diagnosed with ASD late in life. My childhood was rocky, my early twenties were perhaps rockier, as I knew something was wrong with me but I did not know what.

My parents did not seek medical help for me when I was younger and having episodes so I never assumed I was autistic until I began doing some research as an adult with the encouragement of my wife.

Hoping to connect with others here who perhaps identify with my experience. I appear quite “normal” to most people but there is a constant storm in my head and unfortunately my wife has to deal with it daily. She is my refuge; I want to understand myself better so that I can hopefully one day be as strong for her as she is for me.

Welcome to WP! I hope you find it a good place to visit.

I am one of the late-diagnosis folk here. I was 64 before I even wondered if I was Autistic, and I was 64 when I was diagnosed. Before that I was just weird...but a good weird, I think.

Welcome to Wrong Planet.

It sounds like you are on the right track. Everyone in this world has strengths and weaknesses. High Functioning Aspies are a bit different because our strengths and weaknesses are much greater. We are brilliant in some areas and failures in others. The primary goal to achieving goodness, is to use your strengths to overcome your weaknesses. The first step is to understand your differences.
