Hi, my name is Laura. I'm 47 and was just diagnosed. The diagnosis came about after being attacked at work and my mental health diagnoses of panic disorder, depression and suicidal ideation didn't seem to explain things and the meds were only a little helpful. Now I'm in a position of having to learn who I am. I've been heavily masking and feel like I've lost myself along the way. Glad to find this forum

Welcome to the site. I wonder if you have asperger's syndrome (Aspie for short). This brings to mind that the way. The use of meds may not help this condition and may do more harm then good.
There is a difference between males and females with Asperger's. Women seem to be able to hide the condition better than males. They blend into society. But then around the age of around 30, it becomes more difficult to hide their differences. And they suffer with "mental health diagnoses of panic disorder, depression and suicidal" thoughts.
If that is the case, learn how to be yourself, your real self. It will not make you many friends but at least you will be the real you.
