I live in the state of Iowa. My son, who has Aspergers, tells me that a lot of people on this site are from other countries, I do not know if this is true. It does not really matter where you are from, we all have something in common and it is important knowing that we are not alone.
I am hoping to not only meet people but to collect data about Aspergers, Autism, and the difficulties that people who have this face everyday.
My son and I did not find out why he was different until he was 24 years of age, to him it has not made a difference he is still who he is, but to me his mom, it has helped me in reading and finding out about how he sees things and the difficulties that he faces on a dailey bases, because he could not make me understand. I am still learning and I feel that it has made me a better parent to him.
I am blessed to be his Mom.
I want to find out how many people with this disorder receive SSI payments, what states they live in and what type of resources are there for them. That is one of the most frustraiting thing is there is services for Autism, but not the Apsergers.
How do we educate employers and the people who work with people with Aspergers?
