Heey everyone just wanted to post a little about myself... I am undiagnosed but I had always wondered why I seemed so different than everyone else I knew and it made me very depressed. I never wanted to do anything and always felt awkward around people... even people I consider my good friends. I just never know how to act around them. Well I heard about Asperger's Syndrome from that show House M.D... it was barely even mentioned but I always get curious and look up the things they reference on there cause I like learning about it. Well when I researched that, I was literally shaking because almost everything I read described me perfectly... it was like I reading my life story. I hope to someday talk to a psychologist and see if I can get an official diagnosis. I just feel so better knowing that I might have a name for why I feel so different and out of place in the world.

Anyway... I just hope I can make some new friends on here that I can relate too. Anyone feel free to add me on messengers if you would like to chat. Hope to hear from you! :)

Welcome to WP!

My husband and 2 of my 3 sons have AS. We see a fantastic psychologist at an Autism/Asperger's specialist clinic in Brisbane, Australia.

Have fun on WP.

Helen

Hi and welcome to WP. The episode of House that mentions Asperger's is also the reason I had my sons assessed. I knew something was different about them and when I heard it on the show, I ran to the computer and looked it up. Turns out, I was right they have AS. Now it is my turn to decide if I want diagnosed or not.
I hope you like it here!

Yeah I kind of disappeared after barely even being here that long... but here is the story.

I started to get a little discouraged because I was not totally convinced I had Aspergers... until someone on this forum (don't know his name at the moment...) added me to messenger because of a post of mine he read. He does autism advocacy and is clincally diagnosed. I explained to him my situation and how I feel about certain things and he said that I sound like textbook Aspergers.. so I decided to go back into researching it. I was diagnosed with ADHD as a child so I found sites comparing the two and showed them to my mother and asked her about my childhood. She was almost imediately convinced because it explained so much... I then read some old documents from schools and teachers from when I was younger. They pretty much state the symptoms of Aspergers and it's so clear to me now.

I am going to try to come back to the forums now that I feel like I belong here. I still hope to talk to a specialist and get an official diagnosis. I feel great relief from finally knowing why I have always felt different. Just want to say thanks to Scott for helping me realize this. Hope I am still welcome here and I look forward to meeting some of you and reading your stories and thoughts. Anyone feel free to add me to messengers to chat. So I guess... hello again! =)
