Hailing from Albuquerque, here, so just a short hop to the south of you (once the Rail Runner's up, I'm hoping to be able to make the trip up there more often). I'm borderline aspie - my sensory and social issues are nowhere as near bad as many here, but they're still there. I don't find social interaction that stressful, but I still suck at it. Music Graduate, so yes, I've been through the higher education system, but studying music my class sizes were always very small, lots of even smaller tutorials, and of course lots of 1-on-1 stuff, so really how comparible it is to most people's higher education experience, I'm not sure. I think I'm lucky that my obsessions often had practical applications within what I was studying, I was always in small groups, and the circles within which I moved, because of the common musical interest, made conversation a lot easier.
As for meeting up... eh, it's difficult for me now, we just got a crazy dog who needs a lot of exercise, so getting out of the city isn't something we can just do, anymore - she'd need to be boarded, but if you're ever down here, LMK and we'll see if we can figure something out? I'll warn again, I'm probably not your average aspie, but I'd still be interested to compare notes, as it were.

So, Bitesizekiwi, does that mean you are a short New Zealander?

welcome to WP.

I am very short - 4'10". My only name at school is Bite Size (and I love it.) The Kiwi part of my nickname was given to me by my parents as they took a trip to New Zealand shortly before I was born. I wish I was from there. It sounds like an amazing country. But I am 100% American.

I have never been to the US, but I have the impression New Mexico is much like parts of Australia.

I remember it was said (in a movie, so it must be true - lol) that the only real cowboys left are in New Mexico - lol.

NLD isn't necessarily milder, this is an incorrect and slightly meaningless common misconseption. This sort of demonstrates the limitations of ring fences terms like Asperger's and NLD. You are ASD regardless. What they are is a result of research on non-concurrent perspectives.

I hope you find this site useful

I want to get up to Albuquerque at some point in the next couple of weeks to check out UNM. I'm enrolled at Santa Fe right now, but they may be phasing out my religious studies program, so I'm interested in taking some classes up at UNM as well to make up the credits. I'll be sure to send you an e-mail if I'm in the area.
