Firstly my topic greeting... I dont know why but i've always like greeting people with Woof! It's odd but...(Shruggs) lol. I dont always do it but i like it.
That said,
Hello guys! Yeah you guessed it, i'm a noob to Wrong planet (And Aspie forums alike)!
Got Diagnosed with Aspergers a little over a year ago after more than a year filled with tests... (Rolls eyes)
My whole life i've been a loner trying to associate myself with the world. To have it's door slam firmly in my face. :( Even now i'm still trying to work out the right way to exist. Life as an Aspie aint easy. Because our disability isnt well known or shows up as obviously as a physical one people are unwilling to understand and tend to react rather negatively.
Still i've learned to cope as best i can in some ways!
This ... Aspergers. Makes one feel really alone in the world. So if your an Aspie could you do me one favour? Could you just give me a shout (Not literally shout... say hello or something. lol) let me know your out there! That i'm not alone with this in this scary place!

So not long now until my birthday. Gonna be 27 by the end of this month. So errr... Yay for me i guess! lol

Here is my shoutout:

I am out there, I have AS, and if you read my post in Members only (it ends with [rant]), and explains my (one of my) views on life.

Welcome to WP. We all are strange here, so it's normal :)

Edit: Happy Early Birthday :) Don't eat cake this year though, you will feel better, I promise you :)

You may not get many responses in the into (typical # seems to be 1-6) but if you make some threads people will respond :)

Well you got my attention. I appreciate difference in a greeting. And also because that resembles the language of dogs and I happen to have a close relationship with a dog - we depend on each other a lot. His special interest is tennis balls - but only if someone's throwing them. But he's also anti-social like me so we make a good pair actually.

I'm new here as well and only got diagnosed a couple of years ago. But I didn't so much have to endure a lot of tests - but there were years of wrong diagnoses until something finally made sense. We've got other things in common too - the country we live in. Different state though. And my birthday's in February (so - close enough! lol). Is your sign Aquarius or Capricorn? That's really okay if you're not interested in that. I realise I could be going too far with that question! lol

But yeah, I was pretty shaken after the diagnosis. I thought I'd be relieved. I guess it was because for years I thought I had a chance of improving - and then when I found out there was a neurological cause it made it seem far more permanent. It also just exacerbated the identity crisis I already had - and still have! It's hard not to feel alone when I can't even communicate properly to myself - let alone to others!! ! I hope you find a way to make it easier to cope. 'Woofs' as a greeting should probably help - but that's just my opinion! Pretending to be like everyone else can feel like an internal death.

So anyhow, if I don't see you beforehand (or I forget) happy birthday for later on in the month. I tend to try to avoid that expression because it is so limiting. I actually would prefer to wish you an immensely happy year, and entire life for that matter. Also if too many people pile so many happy wishes onto us for just that one day only - it can make us susceptible for a come-down the following day. I'd much prefer something more sustained - even if it means a slightly more milder version of happiness. So there you go and I hope very much that you might be able to decipher that!

Oh, the cake comment had nothing to do with your post, I am just saying refraining from sugar can help sometimes :P

Rawr-Meow-Zoom!

I'm not really a dog person, but I like the "Woof!" It sounds huggable or something. (Unless you're an anti-hug person, in which case I'll just say "Woof" back & you will probably laugh - I don't do very good animal noises).

Your greeting got my attention, so just thought I'd say welcome from a fellow newbie. And welcome to the other new folk too. :) Glad to be here & glad you are too.

Funny, I just read the book "Look me in the eye" by John Elder Robinson - and in it he mentions that he often greets people with "Woof!", lol.

Suppose you two have something in common!

Welcome to WP

WOW! 8O

I'm Shocked by all the replies since i came offline yesterday! And very very Grateful!
Thankyou!
I want to respond to so much here. so bear with me if you will as i go down the list...

SporadSpontan
Hiya! (Big Woof! Woof!)
I do love dogs myself. I always wanted a pet but wasn't allowed until finally i reached adulthood when i was able to get one of my own. I loved him greatly. An Airedale Terrier he was. And a Bear (Growl) of a dog as well... Err well more like a Cuddly Wuddly Teddy Bear of a dog! lol. Sadly due to living circumstances after 4 years i had to give him away. (I was in a Tent, no home) I could'nt sell him even though he was an expensive purebreed. I loved him too much for a price tag...
Well my birthday mate is actually on Australia Day... A boon i guess depending on how you look at it. So that make me: Pause.... wait for it.... Aquarius :!: (Just imagine it done with pomp and fanfair. Musical instruments and the like) So our birthday's are probably even closer than you thought. Oh and dont worry, your not going too far with a question like that. It's just a normal question in my books. But i do understand the fear and not wanting to offend.
Yeah at first i was relieved with my diagnosis... My whole life i've known something was wrong. But now... (Sigh) I feel doomed by it all. To have hope that things will somehow turn out okay is bleak. Still saying that, hope is all i have! One day i'll have a life. Find someone to love.
On the whole subject of wishing someone a happy birthday i agree with you completely. For someone like me i'd definately prefer to be wished a better year. I dont celebrate my birthday anyway... no point! Who am i going to celebrate it with?

Woah! One reply down and already it's getting really long! Sorry guys!

CockneyRebel (Woof!)
Hi mate! thnx for the welcome!

Tigerbirl (Woof!Woof!)
Thanks my dear! And welcome to you as well! It's little things like what you said that i adore, Adore!

Meadow (Woof!)
Woof! Thanks Meadow! It feels good to be welcomed thus! I wonder now why i never joined this forum earlier. When is your birthday if you dont mind me asking that is?

xalepax (Woof! Woof!)
Well thankyou very muchly xalepax! I'm very moved by everyone's response.
Xalepax it will be my honour to stay around and join in talking with you guys! (Courtly Bow)

This is just a thought of mine. But man aspergians are highly intelligent writers. I've read posts in forums that are philosophical and deep!

Scientist (Woof!)
Thanks Scientist for the welcome. I hope your stay at Wrongplanet has treated you well?

RedRaven (Woof! Tilts head at the different animal greetings you give) 8)
Well i am and i aint anti huggable... lol. I cant bear to be touched much by the males of our species. Half of it is Autistic and the other half (No offence) distrust! Too much bullying in my younger days i suppose.
That said i can control my Autistic tendancies when it comes to woman. I love being touched and held by a girl. If i know a girl well enough it ends up making me feel relaxed rather than tense. Another odd thing about me is i love being petted like a dog. On top of the head. (Once again only females or a really close male) It's the most biggest tension drainer for me i know!
Oh and everyone needs a good laugh! I REALLY want to hear your animal noises now!! I bet they are cute!
Welcome yourself by the way! It's good to have you here! :D

richie (Woof)
Thanks for the greating.... It's oh so Shiny! Can i play with the shiny sign? I'll only chew it a little. I promise!

And last but not least:
Vivienne (Woofy Woof!)
Yes i've read that book myself and was surprised to find that he did the same as me there. It was the first thing my diagnoser gave me when i found out i had Aspergers. In it i believe he also states he liked being petted. I liked that! He's a vey... Interesting fellow! He did all the Special guitars for the Band Kiss. I found that rather cool.

Sorry guys that this reply is oh Soooo long! Thankyou once again for the warm welcome!
May your light shine bright and the path be clear!
