Let's face it, things aren't going to change until the human race works towards becoming gods, like we should be doing now instead of fighting useless wars to maintain the archaic 'status quo' and the pathetic ideals of our ancestors, like money and religion, alive.
There are two technologies that will change society overnight, nanotechnology and ZPE. With nanotechnology, we can literally create anything from molecules. Food, clothing, housing, you name it. We will also be using this to alter our existing selves. Cosmetic surgery will then move away from barbaric scalpels and forceps, we will simply re-arrange the atomic structure of our faces and bodies to what we want, by simply injecting nanobots into our bloodstream, where they will work their way towards the target area.
This tech will be a boon to space exploration. Then it would be time to move off this inadequate planet and venture into new cosmic territory.

Also the corporate scum want to get their greedy hands on this and try and profit from it. Not going to happen.
As long as we carry on as the stupid apes that we are, evolutionary baggage and all, it's almost guaranteed we'll destroy ourselves and the planet with this technology. We are not the be-all-end-all of evolution. Far from it.
The solution is to become posthuman. Then we shall be as gods.
