and it's made a HUGE difference in my life and the way I live. It's allowed me to make major changes in my life and I'm looking for someone who is rooted in God and Jesus Christ to help me understand how to live with my Aspergers. Are there any non-denominational Christian Aspies on this site?

I'm a Catholic Christian, but I guess that doesn't really count.

I get the Catholic thing. I'm married to one. I guess I'm talking about Christians who seek God's word and strive to do all things for the Glory of Him.

There's definitely a few of those members on the forum.

My theistic beliefs are derived mainly from Christianity, and the only reason that I could be considered non-denominational is because I hate religion, even though I've attended Seminary and am an ordained Presbyterian elder.

(It's a long story.)

Two years ago, if your post had appeared on this website, I'd have been all over it with as much humanistic snark as I could muster. Today, however, I will simply caution you that this website favors no one religion -- there is no official recognition on this website of any one religion being the one, true religion -- and that insisting that Christianity is THE way to believe is likely to earn you some very trollish remarks and likely a few accusations of being out of touch with reality.

And "fundies" can be just as bad, in that if you don't believe exactly as they do, then you are "obviously" heretical or apostate.

Anyway, welcome aboard. I hope that your participation here is a blessing, in that you will grow spiritually from it.

As soon as I realized what Autism *was* (a few days ago when, through reading about autism, I realized that I was autistic), I simultaneously seemed to realize that Jesus was autistic.

I appreciate what you are saying, Fnord. I'm certainly not looking to suggest any religion is right or wrong. I'm definitely not one to judge. I believe in freedom of religion and all the other constitutional rights we have. This was just a request for me personally.

I was looking for others to connect with (possibly through private messages) who might help me develop behavioral tools that are Christ-based. Like I said, I'm recently saved and I'm just beginning to read scripture and study the Bible. I find personal strength and blessings in God's word. I'm just looking for others that do the same. If I am not able to make such connections, so be it.

You might want to open a discussion in 'The Haven' sub forum, or perhaps ask a Mod to move this there (They can do that! ). The Haven is designed to be something of a sanctuary free from unwelcome argument and negativity. If you read what one of the Mods wrote in the first thread for guidelines you'll see this topic covered specifically and quite well.

The OP is seeking members with similar beliefs so the current "Getting to know each other" forum is more appropriate than The Haven, which is intended for people seeking support during a difficult or emotional time in their lives.

The text you quote relates to people attempting to turn suggestions of a religious nature, posted there with the sincere belief they will be helpful, into debates about religion - it is not simply saying that the expression of religious views is protected in The Haven and in certain situations they would not be, as in the quoted example of someone offering suggestions of a religious nature to an atheist.

"OP" can mean, depending on context, any of: the Opening Post (the first in a thread), Originating Poster (the person starting a thread or the person writing a specific post).

To be honest I think that just unsorts what a different moderator had sorted out. In any other forum (other then the Haven) there are not prohibitions against others coming in and expressing differing opinions. The point is simply is that there is a place where people of similiar beliefs can discuss it without interruption or disruption.

I think you're over-reading what was said, with respect to the religious angle.
It's not that The Haven is general-purpose and set aside for people to chat about similar beliefs without others offering different opinions, more that it's a special forum where people are able to post seeking help and comfort about difficult situations which are causing them particular distress or depression without fear of harsh, unsympathetic responses of any type.
They are likely to be in a fragile, emotional state and responding by debating or criticising their belief (or lack of one) would be just as insensitive as telling them to "grow up" or "develop a thicker skin".

No religion, or lack of one, is "protected" as such on WP - but that's not to say that people can be attacked or denigrated in any WP forum because of having or not having one.
But any belief system is likely to be questioned here - PPR being an extreme example and one reason why it exists - and a place where people with various beliefs can "just hang out" and talk about them without being expected to defend or debate what they believe is a good idea. Maybe PPR needs an Anti-PPR.
