Hello all!

I'm 19, I'm diagnosed, and I'm very happy about it.

I know for a lot of people being diagnosed is a struggle, it's bad for them - and admittedly my case probably isn't as extreme. But getting diagnoses is actually the best thing that's happened to me. I spent more than 17 years of my life so awkward, barely eating or sleeping, thinking I was a freak and not knowing why - and now that I know the reason for it all, I've never been happier with myself, with who I am.

My mum told me about this forum. I don't think she's registered or anything.


But yeah, hi! I have Asperger's and my obsession is all things related to music.

Yes, being able to put a name to it can be a tremendous relief. "Whew, finally figured out what's going on, now I can stop worrying and get on with life."

That's exactly what it was. I still need to thank that teacher actually, who helped me find out so quickly and easily.

Of course, now I can work on it too, because I know it's not just my fault. I'm making some progress.

I just have to say that my favourite actor is Anthony Hopkins so your forum name I think is really great! :L

It was a relief for me too, finding out that I have AS.
I spent my school years depressed, anxious and friendless, wondering why I was so different to everyone else. I knew that I wasn't stupid...but knew that there was something different about me.

I wasn't as happy with my diagnosis as you said you are. I was relieved as I said, but disappointed that it's not something that I can get rid of. Ohwell.

No, I did, but I'm a white guy and I use it referring to other white guys. I'm not a big fan of political correctness, but if the admins prefer I not use that word - not that I planned on doing so again - I'm cool with it.

I sport a pale pigmentation to my skin and I was not offended!

Then again... I have the feeling of a cold coming on and thought perhaps he meant those of us 'honking' our noses because of a Thanksgiving Cold.
