ok. but i don't find it exactly transitional or preliminary, since that would have been the lurking stage, but you actually posted, so... you are no longer tentatively tiptoeing, as your timid transitional lurking has lurched into fully propelled proactive participatory posting
Maybe I got carried away a little bit. Preliminary was a poor choice as it was most certainly liminary in nature. I will stand my ground though on Tentative and Transitional. Even though there is a very binary distinction between posting/not-posting, the first post can still certainly be a form of tentative tiptoeing - I definitely stared at it long enough before pressing submit to qualify for that distinction. And as far as Transitional goes, I think a good analogy (or a completely horrible one) is human life and abortion. The binary black/white distinction is: before conception- no human being; after conception- fully formed and fully enfranchised personhood. The other side of the argument is that becoming a person (or a proactive participatory poster) is a process of many steps and a lot of time, including conception itself which is actually a messy and protracted process. I think that I tend to think that what defines a person from a lump of organic goo is not simply a few cells with a full and distinct compliment of 46 human chromosomes but the continual process of transitioning into a fuller more robust human being (or proactive participatory poster). I am by no means certain of this, (the human life part) just deeply fascinated by less than absolute nature of humanity.
Maybe that wasn't the most appropriate analogy but I saw a chance to work a topic that I have far more opinions on than outlets in which to opine into the conversation and I took it.
