I also spoke elsewhere of H. being called away, because J's father had a heart attack. I have come to learn that the Red Cross has yet to get correct information to J's command, so it's quite likely that he won't get to go home to see the old man. We can hope that he'll pull through, but when I heard from H. earlier today, she said he didn't look good. Either way, she's there until this weekend, because we spent more money than we had to get her there, so she can't come back until J. gets paid.

And now, the update - his command finally sent him home last week, so H. decided to stay there. That may have been a poor choice. Now she's getting stressed heavily from his family, he won't get paid again until the first, and she's just run out of her psych meds. Her pharmacy up here isn't cooperating, to the extent that she hasn't even had insulin for almost a week because they won't give her a refill there. This morning, she was threatening suicide. I need to get her out of there now, but that would require me to come up with around a thousand dollars quickly, and I don't see that happening - the banks around here only do home-equity loans, and as a renter, I have no home equity. I also don't even know anyone who knows anyone with that kind of money just lying about. Right now, all I want to do is find a nice dark corner and curl up for a few years, but that won't help anyone either... :(

...i just dont know what to do...

Is it because she didn't gat paid and doesn't have money, or because she ran out on her perscription, that the pharmacy is being uncooperative?

Her prescription has refills, and is paid for with her military-dependent medical benefits - the pharmacy up here just doesn't want to fax the info needed to the pharmacy down there, as she can't come into the pharmacy up here and sign a paper in their presence, and they apparently fear litigation for potential HIPAA violations more than litigation stemming from a refusal to refill a prescription.

Is there anyway you could help her get to the pharmacy to sign the paper? Give her a ride or something?

I apologize - thought I'd made it clear, maybe it was in a post somewhere else. J.'s father is in Bullhead City, AZ, about 1300 miles from here. If she were here, there would be a lot of things I could do. All I can do now, though, is try to figure out where I can come up with a thousand bucks in short order. I mostly posted here to vent, really (although if anyone has any good ideas, now's the time!).

Well, a thought that crossed my mind was googling cab companies in Bullhead city, and arranging for one of them to go pick her up.

Maybe even seeing if you could pay the fare via a debit card or something.

but I don't know. I think I've only been to Bullhead city once, if that.

You see, the problem seems to be that the pharmacy here wants to actually have her sign the paper in person, in their facility - which is kind of hard to do, from there. They don't even want a fax of her signature, it seems - only an original will do. So she's stuck without any of her meds, and unless I can find a way to get her back here right away, she'll be stuck without them for another week and a half or so. This is not a good thing. I just haven't clue one what the frak I can do!!

I don't like feeling helpless, especially where my family is concerned.

i wonder why someone would do that. That sounds like a legitimate reason to file a complaint with the better business bureau?

It also sounds like a reason to bring a lawyer in. I'm really sorry.

Most branches of the military have auxiliaries that have emergency situation funds. In the meantime, try the Salvation Army. They may have ideas, if no cash. What state is she in (the physical state of the country)?
