It's interesting to see where everyone lives, but wouldn't it make more sense to have people mark where they were born/spent their first 3 years? If the purpose of the map is social/curiosity what we're doing is fine...but the OP suggested that perhaps there could be some medical basis to it. Obviously no one is out there "becoming autistic" at age 19, upon moving into the dorms at X,Y coordinates...so our present location is moot.

Just registered the place where my parents lived when I was born, although I was actually born in a hospital in another town. My family had lived in the area since the 1880s and were formerly coal miners. Central Illinois tiny towns, huzzah!

Attention should be brought to this thread every once in awhile. Keep posting randomly to keep it alive.

Good idea. I was just going to do that.

Also, I started a new map on Google because I thought the old one was broken.
"Meet-up Map" http://www.wrongplanet.net/postt85196.html
As it turns out, it's only broken for me. Everyone else seems to think it's fine.

Why is my pin gone from this map?
On my regular computer, the map was glitchy and I had trouble putting a pin on it.
It definitely took the pin eventually, and when I went back days later I was still on there.
Then that computer died. From my son's computer, I don't see my pin.

You can ask them to add your town.

Or... for the time being, you can always just give a nearby town.

===========

I got them to add my town. It is now on the database, and if I select it, it shows me there. Unfortunately, if I leave and come back, it doesn't remember it properly, and moves me to London, which is a hundred miles away.

So... I left myself shown as in "Wincanton", which is rather a lot closer!

They may have fixed it by now. I might try again to put me where I am!

==========

PS. I changed me, and I seem to have succeed in being where I am.
