What is your first name? Roland, was named so because as a baby I rolled around alot in my cot!

Age: 29. Birthday in October.

Location: Taupo, a small town, middle of the north island, New Zealand. I grew up in Auckland (Eastern Suburbs region) and moved to Taupo in 1998. I also lived in Napier/Hastings in 2006, as a Student.

Hobbies and Interests: I currently attend a Socrates Cafe, that's when a group of people meet weekly, and discuss/debate an intellectual idea that is brought up. Each week a member is designated, whom will bring an intellectual idea for discussion next week. I absolutely love it as it lets me use my high intelligence. I also attend a support group for men occasionally, I pick up skills and ideas I can use to improve my life and relationships with others.

In my spare time I watch my favourate TV programmes or movies, do Sudoku puzzles, play computer games mainly World War II simulations (currently I'm obsessed with Silent Hunter 3, and occasionally the IL-2 Sturmovik series). My interests include World War 2, Transactional Analysis (a form of Psychoanalysis), Science (I sometimes buy issues of New Scientist), Mathematics, and a love of cats.

Why are you here? To meet individuals with asperger's syndrome, to learn more about the syndrome and what life can be like for those who have it, to make aquaintance and hopefully some lasting friendships, and who knows!

When were you diagnosed?(skip if you don't have a disorder): September 2007, with High Functioning Asperger's Syndrome. I also have Anxiety (predominantly social) and Depression issues, a consequence of the post-traumatic stress from violent bullying by other students at school for 8 years.

Favorite subjects: anything Intellectual or Scientific. also Cats, World War 2.

Year/Grade: I'm 29, and have finished school. Diploma in Office Administration, Certificate in Business Computing.

Favorite music: Dub - Salmonella Dub, The Black seeds; Tangerine Dream (10 albums at last count), Best of Pearl Jam, a few others, and many individual songs from many artists/Genres that I prefer to hear on radio rather than buy albums of.

Books: Currently into John Connolly, Lincoln Preston, Peter F. Hamilton, the occasional Non-fiction book or Sci-Fi book.

TV shows/Movies: Flight of the Conchords, Wire in the Blood, Burn Notice, Coronation Street, Home and Away (mainly for the hot women), The L word, NCIS, CSI, The Dresden Files...

Solaris, Sunshine, Ghost in the Shell, Who Killed the Electric Car, Life n Debt, The Corporation...

Do you like sports? Will watch some, May be open to playing the less physical kinds, such as snooker/pool, or chess, for example.

Family: one NT Brother, socially savvy but not intellectual-leaning, very much my opposite. My parents are divorced and remarried, and I have good relationships with them and my step-parents, also I have been described as a "clone" of my father, who has had some social difficulties himself. I wonder if he has AS as well, but may have adapted enough socially, for him to appear "normal".

Job: Currently unemployed. My lack of experience works against me, and being an Aspie leads to difficulties at the job interviews. I'm currently getting help from an employment support agency, but not much luck. The Employers in Taupo are conservative at best.

Plans for the future? Despite my dislike of change, Moving to a more populated area would benefit me greatly and is bound to happen sooner or later, as I seem to be the only aspie in this area and cannot find work that suits my abilities and need of meaningful appreciation. I would like to find my soul-mate or significant other, and get further involved in organised socialising.

Any comments? I can't think of anything, as the attractive french redhead that manages this cybercafe caught me gazing dreamily at her and I'm too embarassed to think clearly! so I'll leave it at that.

Hobbies and Interests: Too many to mention fully but they include, Military History, Erotica, Antarctic and Arctic exploration, Erotica, Rugby, and Erotica

Why are you here? Not really sure, to find answers to why I am like I am and to find help dealing with my dark moods.

When were you diagnosed?(skip if you don't have a disorder): Hopefully soon, been informally diagnosed for some years but have referral to National Centre

Favorite subjects: Erotica, anything really.

Year/Grade: Bit past that.

Favorite music: Mixture of all sorts, Scottish Folk, rock, Classical, Everything!

Books: Read widely, but especially like Richard Holmes for Military History, For a lighter read, Christopher Moore, Christopher Brookmyre and Terry Prachet.

TV shows/Movies: Not too much at present, Will watch any rugby, do like House though.

Instrument: Not musical in any way unlike father and brother but can carry a tune and don't feel any embrassment at singing in public.

Instrument: I used to play the recorder, and have since moved on to clarinet.

Do you like sports? If so, which ones?: I am physically bad at sports, but I do go to a sports club to get me fitter. The few sports I like are trampolining and swimming.

Clothing: I'm usually not concerned about what I wear most of the time as long as I feel comfortable. But when it seems important to look nice, I do so.

Plans for the future? My dream is to be an author, but failing that, I'd like to work somewhere in the media industry. So I'll probably go to sixth form, and then college, and then one day I hope to get into the University of East Anglia.

Hmm, good question, I think I kind of like everything with this site Been browsing the Articles-section for a while and got some useful tips about social behaviour like eye-contact and small talk. Then after a while i got around browsing the forum and it just seems like a nice site. People who has likewise "problems" like myself ^^

When were you diagnosed?(skip if you don't have a disorder):
Currently under investigation (suspected AS/ADD). If i get diagnosed it will be early next year After reading this site, and alot of internet about AS (including some public research papers), I'm kind of self-diagnosed.

Favorite subjects:
I can interpret the word "subjects" in too many ways. So I wont answer.

Favorite music:
Oh, well, if i wrote all artists that I like this list would be too long. So I just stick with music styles: acid jazz, hiphop, twisted idm, electro, techno, trance, eurodance, synth, pop, rock, country, soul, jazz and funk

Favorite subjects:English (Hate my english teachers though) but Everything is good in Transition Year!! !

Year/Grade: Transition Year (An extra/optional year after the Junior State Exams in Ireland, where you get business,social, & culture & other experiences, Looks good on a C.V. though

Favorite music:Punk Rock (Will listen to most other rock, some metal, some J-Pop)

Books:HP Series, Sabriel, Hmm, Any good Urban Fantasy books really (Like the Switchers Trilogy)

TV shows/Movies: Meh, Same as above and of course Anime style things

Instrument: I can half-play the recorder and used to be in a Church Choir (My school was Catholic but it was Irlenad so it wasn't too restrictive, very easy-going actually

Do you like sports? Mainly non-team sports (Cycling, Running, Hurdles (ALOT) High Jump) will play Soccer, rugby and i'll try other games even if not too good at them (Hurling, Gaelic football etc;)
