The real me with real sock dilemma. This sock is way too big. as you may guess from the colours it is a Christmas sock and hence time sensitive on getting the pair finished.
Do I:
a) unpick and redo with a more human size or

b) knit the 2nd sock the same size and have everybody laugh at me when the giant socks are given as a gift?

It would probably take longer to pick back than to start again. That being said I would continue with that size, and give them as Christmas stockings or pet Christmas stockings (add a sprig of holly or stitch their initial onto it).

You make me feel badly that I haven't been working on the blue dress I started to knit in October.

Did you check your guage first?
I would have to start again, if it were me.

Check my guage? I am a free range knitter, sir, no sissy guage checking here!

Oh don't feel bad, Isabella! Knitting has its drawbacks - as you can see. Its not all pleasant stim work...

My issue with knitting is that I can't stim with my hands while I knit. Hence, major procrastination. I was thinking maybe you should have used thinner needles for the socks? What size were your needles? Or, I suppose it's all relative to your stitch count. What have you decided to do?

Sorry for the insult. :D
I'm a free range crocheter but I'm a lot less confident with knitting.
I used to check my guage and still end up wrong.

I'd love to see some of your work, Raleigh! The car cover was great! :P
My dad taught me to knit but I've never crocheted. It just looks confusing to me. I've never tried but I'd love to because crochet is so much prettier in my opinion.

Hello to the real you :) ,

You forgot option c) hit the recipient on the foot with a hammer and they'll fit just fine

I would start from scratch , and use that sock as a stocking :)

option b) would be the easiest option and anyone who laughs at their xmas pressies is a twat , it's the thought that counts

Size aside, I really like the colors of that sock, Feeli0. Thank you for sharing your pic.

Well ok.
I made this for my friend as a gift last year, mainly to see if I still could post-op.
Sorry it's showing up sideways (in my view at least)

I'm very embarrassed about my crochet habit, I don't know why.
I learned when I was about 7 or 8, so it's been a lifetime addiction.
That maroon rug - I made that too.

That's beautiful, Raleigh! It looks like a dream catcher! Now I'm inspired to finish my knitting and take up crochet.

I thought it was a throw or blanket not a rug , it looked very warm.
