I learned when I was about 7 or 8, so it's been a lifetime addiction.
That maroon rug - I made that too.

I thought it was a throw or blanket not a rug , it looked very warm.

It was a blanket I guess.
You know I have a language disability, stop picking on me.

I used to knit but don't do any creative crafts anymore.

When I get my s**t together , I'll get my GF sewing room ready as she's very talented as well , she's well into quilting at the moment.

Where exactly do I see the maroon rug / blanket / throw / masterpiece, or did Ferris see it at your house while you guys were plotting world domination?

I knitted a few of those extra chunky throws?? recently.
Used a broomstick cut in half and sharpened for the needles.
That was fun, I'd love to do some more.

I've done quilting too, and just about every other craft you could name.
But yeah, don't do too much of that kind of thing now.

Have you ever knit with your forearms? I did that once to make a hugely chunky scarf.

Raleigh sent me a nude with it draped over his rippling body

I think knitting is a common interest for autistic people because it's all about patterns, repetition, being alone and doing hand stims with a nice texture. (Although I'm allergic to wool so I can only knit with silk, cotton or acrylics).

I have this mental disorder where I've got to take on the most complicated, challenging, huge or intricate thing it's possible to make.
It's more like a disease than a gift.

It's all a matter of perspective , tortured souls are usually the best artists.

I can't believe I had to miss out on all this knitting crochet and craft conversation because of the stupid security issue on my server yesterday which took ALL day to fix up all my websites...grrr. Now you have all moved on. :( I unpicked the sock and will start to redo but they will not be ready for Christmas. :( :( :(

I think knitting is my stim - I can watch TV and knit. I love the feel of the wool. Some wool is nicer than others like perendale. I love cables. Before I learned to knit I crocheted. When I first started recovering from alcoholism/drug addiction I crocheted constantly.

Anyway very impressed, Raleigh, that you also have the bug.

I'm going to try crochet. It's beyond my logical comprehension how one hook can make all those patterns. I'll finish the blue dress first, though. (I think WP has taken over my hand movement requirement, in place of knitting) :( I've also been on an ancestry obsession again lately so I'll have to pave a path through time first.
