So March 1st marked a full year of beard growth. From here I have two options. Either I can continue letting it grow as I have, or I can trim it up to where it starts to split in the middle, or "fork". I'm leaning towards option two but won't take action until I'm sure that that's what I want to do.

It's also been about six months since my last hair cut. I'm not really sure what I want to do with my hair in terms of style. I have a couple of ideas but again, I haven't decided.

What do you all think?

You should let it fork like they did in the old days!

I tried to grow a beard when I was 24 years old. Didn't work!

You're only 22 years old; why do you want a beard, anyway?

You look decent, though. You look sort of like one of those old Bohemians.

I've thought beards were cool for as long as I can remember, and I started wanting one when I was like 5 or 6. Since I am physically capable of growing one I see no reason not to have one. Additionally, I feel it complements my face and it masks my weak jawline.

Actually I've generally been rocking some form of facial hair since I was about 15. I was one of the only students at my high school to have facial hair, though I kept it short at the time.

Nice beard. How long did it take to grow? I've thought about growing one, I dislike change though, so i've looked the same sense I was 14. Plus when I go without shaving my hair doesn't grow in thick, it's all gapped up and trashy looking, I gotta lot of native blood, no chest hair.

Thanks man! Been growing it out since the first of March last year. I was maintaining a short beard up until that point.

that mustache is glorious!

Thanks! I'm pretty sure it reached terminal length months ago, so if I decide to keep it at this length (which I think I will) I won't have to worry about trimming it. It doesn't look great nor is it as practical if I leave it naturally to hang over my lip though. The trick is using mustache wax and brushing it to the sides. Interestingly, it's actually easier to tame a longer mustache to the sides than a shorter one in my experience.

I have actually tried emphasising the fork to see what it would look like, at least in the mirror. It looks alright, but again each side looks a little on the thinner side, though that may just be due to the lighting in my bathroom. I think I am going to trim it like I said for the foreseeable future and try growing it longer again when I'm a little older and see if it's gotten any thicker with age. It's quite likely that I'll still have the fork at that time though and that being the case, I'll probably style it to emphasise the fork on occasion.
