Six hour drives? Sounds like you live here. That wasn't you I was stuck on the freeway behind last week, was it? They were in a van with their side door duct taped on.

Ok. So the place is kinda on fire. The governator is threatening to doc my pay by so much that I won't be able to do a car payment, parking fee, maint on the car, and pay for the gas to get to work on what he's saying he'll give us. There's earthquakes sloshing coffee out of my cup all over keyboard. They've declared a water emergency (we won't have enough). Hmmmmm, oh, yeah, and we're about to hit the hottest two months of our year - September is usually as hot here as it gets for other folks in the top of their summers elsewhere in the country. My house has lost 1/2 it's market value, and nobody wants to buy it even at that.
Hmmmm. Yes indeedy. Why am I still here? 
Probably because it's no better anywhere else. At least we don't have tornados. (She says, wincing, and checking out the window just in case.)

Wonder how big that was? If it was LA, it was big. If local, decent enough. My coffee sloshed outa my cup.
Edit: SO glad I got earthquake insurance. The policy literally arrived in yesterday's mail. Hope we don't need it. The kid is in a highrise south of here, and it's on springs. Says she got nauseous from the building moving.
Now, is it a foreshock or the main event.
Why is it we are living here, exactly, Nan?

Lauri!! ! Good to hear from you again, and glad you and you are doing better now! I'll bet it's a relief to know that your son doesn't have Chrons. 
I hope his IBS doesn't flair often. Sending thoughts and well wishes that this will be a one-time deal!
Nan... maybe the space station as a new abode? (...I hear it has no floods, droughts, fires, sharks, sea mines, earthquakes, plagues, etc. Just bad plumbing.)
I'm working for Jonathan (the pharmacist who works opposite me) this week. His step-father passed away yesterday. So I likely won't be here to wish everyone a "Happy 1000th Page!" when it happens.
