Twenty-four hours later, lurking from Australia.

Going to North America, 13.5 hours in the air. Coming from, 15 hours. Something about westerly headwinds, I am told. I was hoping to come back to warmer temps, but can't have everything I guess. :)

working and lurking
sleeping then lurking then
working. . .no baby finches
only a 'baby' kitty that got
locked out yesterday when
I went to work, and cried and
cried at the door till the neighbors
opened the window in back to
let him in.
My neighbors thought I was heartless
but I didn't want to point out
that my kitty had to use the kitty box
and would NOT go outside to do his business.

unlike THEIR kitties ( over ten of them) that poop and pee
everywhere out side. I held my tongue, because
1. they did help my cat
and
2. they are in the process of moving !

Thanks richie. :) Now I must once again become "Australia-footed" — i.e. head up the left side of the footpath instead of going to the right-hand side of the sidewalk. I expect I'll be crashing into people for a while. :D

Excellent suggestion! In fact, I'm thinkin' that the Aspie could account for a whole multitude of misdemeanours. :D

why not? you've been lugging her around for years, she might as well bear some of the load now you know about her.

went to my psychiatrist appointment. Doing it with intermittent FMLA so I can get it off when ever I need to. . It's not my AS, I am not going to fix that. it is all those other issues I need to deal with the ones I am embarrassed about. Isn't that strange, I am embarrassed at mental illness, but having autism doesn't phase me. I was so nervous there. I liked the guy immediately. I didn't care much for my evaluator, but my shrink and I got along OK. I can be very charismatic, especially when I am frightened and anxious. I was positively scintillating today. He was keeping up with me pretty good, but when my time was over, he was kinda tuckered out, the next person was coming up the stairs and I hope he got a minute to just decompress. I need more than an hour, just to calm down, and I think he can match me for energy, he plays semi pro football.

I'm going to bed.

Hiyas,

I'm here and there, stressed out. Hope it calms down soon.

Glad to see Spike is looking more bird-like everyday :)

merle - yeah, isn't it strange? and it's still more social acceptable to be autistic (or one of the associated varieties of "things") than to be "mentally ill". which is bizarre beyond words. maybe it still goes back to the stereotypes that the former is "something the poor things can't do anything about" and the latter some kind of character flaw that one is supposed to just buck up and overcome?

Hope your weekend goes better, Bunni, and that you have your water-wings ready. Stay safe in what is coming?!

Spike is acting much more independently, too. He's beginning to try to flutter and has almost started walking. He turns around when held in one's palm to see who it is who is talking, and comes when called by kind of ooching like a little pre-walking kid across the bottom of his nursery box. He's very chatty now, too. And fluffy. I have a hard time knowing when he's had enough to eat - before his feathers came in I could see his crop and whether it was full or not. Now I have to just guess - he always asks for more, even if he's absolutely stuffed!

I feel the same way about the autism and mental illness. I don't necessarily mention either to anyone, but I feel more comfortable mentioning the autism as an explanation for any of my actions. Unfortunately due to my job I've had to come to terms with having to explain to my supervisors about myself so they could understand some of my way of thinking and stuff, and again I only mentioned the autism , like nan said also its still more socially acceptable or so it seems.

creepycrawly,
I told my new supervisor about my AS suspicions, and she has been so supportive! Since I have been DXed ( last month) she has gotten me started on the FMLA intermittent so I can go to Shrink's appointments once a week and use my paid time off I have built up so I don't lose the money my co-pays are going to cost me. But I just couldn't tell her my complete DX and to her credit, she hasn't asked. When I saw Shrink I told him I knew I couldn't do anything about the autism, but I could about the borderline, and the chronic PTSD and the eating disorder and the anxiety, so I said I wanted to get those taken care of and then go back to school and get my PhD He asked me in what and of course, I knew that I didn't know yet, as stuff like that mostly just evolves for me. Anyway, I didn't even know that is what I wanted to do until the day before, but I have the certainty that it is exactly what I want to do! Goodness, I am getting better already!
But unfortunately, I will cycle through this, too, and you wait, with in a month I will be ready to do myself in for someone looking at me weird.

anyone else go into therapy? What are your ideas, impressions, stories?

Merle
