uh oh. it's been in the fridge since saturday and it's STILL frozen like a rock. they said it would take a day for every five pounds, if defrosted in the fridge.

well, it ain't a-working! gonna have to give it the mafia treatment!

(put it in a bucket of cold water with a big brick on it to hold it underwater)

:lmao: :hail: :lmao:

and change out the water to warmer now and then to speed the gentle process or you will have ice in the gizzards bag still when you want to roast it.

how cozy to share Thanksgiving with us in the States!

uhhh, WTF???

the weather radio siren just went off. we're under a tornado warning. it's 5:00am on thanksgiving day and we have no storm shelter here. we are totally unprepared for a tornado. no place we could run to is open. and we're on the top floor.

this has GOT to be a dream from eating that burrito so late last night.

none of the local tv stations has picked it up, but the weather channel has a banner.

ah, no there they go with the "what do we do with this info" deer in the headlights weather intern on the tv.....

WTF???????

[edit - well THAT was fun! i haven't heard the weather radio siren in years, took me a few min to realize what it was. Forgot we even owned one, actually.... the TV folks here are really bad about advisories. watched for like 15 to 20 minutes, flipping local channels, with no warning up on any of them. crawler on the weather channel station, with the old civil defense tone periodically. but the local guys? no, they're still talking about surfing, clothes, and how to cook a turkey. well. this bodes for an interesting upcoming few days!

they say the thunderstorm that dropped this one is large and heading our way, but now primarily just full of heavy rains. might go out later, when it's light, and see what's slid and what's flooded. hasn't had a 3 inch rain in years. wheeee! happy thanksgiving day, for those folks who do it!]

"...and what are you thankful for, Nan m'dear?"
"I'm thankful for not being blow'd up by sea mines, boined up by hell fires, quaked out, mudslidededed away, twistered, melted by furnace-blast winds... saaaaaaay! 8O How come those Santa Anna winds have destroyed half of Cal-ee-fornee-ya and it's 2000 year old Sequoias, but won't pop a thaw on my dadgum frozen turkey?"
"Now Nan - we must be thankful! Eat your turkey-cicle, and watch the parades like a good little aspie. And quit playing with those radio tubes."

8O Geez, Nan! Bring your frozen turkey to Alberta. The worst thing we have is some snow and cold! And the turkey would fit right in.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL MY AMERICAN FRIENDS!!

what? you're not watching the carnage and holocaust of Mumbai? sheesh folks, we think we have it bad! some people have war in their countries. . . Tornados? good gawd, Nan, are they forming out to sea?? proper tornados need to have flat to get their spirals going. . . 17 years in Kansas exposed me to more tornadoes than the average bear.

Merle, forever the news junkie

As for my Thanksgiving I am making Zuppa de Peche, with wonderful tomatoes and calimari, scallops, shrimp (inna shell) and delicate cod flakes. I am doing this Alli diet and so far it has been quite effective.

Happy Thanksgiving to us'n in the States!

Merle
