Sixty years ago, let's see now...

The Treaty of Brussels, promising military cooperation among Britain, France, and the so-called "Benelux countries" (still makes me think of a vacuum cleaner) was signed. This is seen as being the precursor of NATO.

Ozzy Osbourne was born Dec 3, 1948.

The Hell's Angels motorcycle gang was founded in California.

The Alpher-Bethe-Gamow paper about the Big Bang was published on April 1, 1948. Amazingly, it turned out not to be an elaborate April Fool's Day prank.

The Palomar Observatory telescope was completed on June 3, 1948.

On June 11 of that same year, the first monkey astronaut, Albert I, was launched into space from the White Sands Missile Base in New Mexico, US.

William Shockley filed the original patent for the grown junction transistor, the first bipolar junction transistor.

The National Health Service Acts were enacted in the UK.

In the same month, the first London chapter of Alcoholics Anonymous was founded.

Dutch physicist Henrik Casimir discovered the Casimir effect.

Cyberpunk's inventor, author William Gibson, was born on March 17, 1948.

Was it one of those, Chuck? 8)

Thanks Jon! :D
Reading your fact lines, and between them, is firming my recollection. Particularly "monkey astrolau Albert". There's something significant there, if I could just put my finger on it.

Dang.

Perhaps there is something significant in this repeating "vacuum cleaner" occurrence, and the discovery of the Casimir effect? Or there may be a correlation between the secret beer formula and the birth of Alcoholics Anonymous? Or the nebula image, the Palomar telescope, and the Big Bang theory? And it seems that several odd men were apparently born on this date: Ozzy Osbourne, William Gibson, and Hell's Angels.

But my mind goes back to monkey astrolau Albert.

I had to consult my sage for this conundrum. I said 60 and he said 360, "a circle", I asked? He replied, "Well Duh!!
Image
Directions!! !! A plan!! ! But, which way to go to figure out this, obviously, prophecy. So I decided to sit and ponder, ponder and ponder some more and of course, I got bored. So what is a poor boy to do when faced with 360 degree circle, prophecies, with a side order of beer, secrets of the universe and most likely the secret ingredients to SPAM(TM) and the likelihood of Vikings, at any moment, and they might have Green M&M's with them, you know, the size of bird eggs. Well anyway, I looked around and noticed there wasn't a chair but a wonderful apparatus that most assuredly would solve all before me and possibly after me. (I am concerned there are people after me, you know. Pygmy's with sandpaper shoes. It's true. They're photo shy though, so sorry, no photo.) A customized sit'n'spin. Whooha!! !
Image
After much exercise and pondering, I no longer was concerned with people after me or before me, but did feel like I had been drinking beer and of course drinking beer and circles always makes me want to chase tires. Perfectly logical. (IT IS SO!! ) It was like being struck with thunder bolts and lightning, while very very frighting, I didn't think of Galileo or Freddy Mercury. I thought of this, which, again, is perfectly logical. (IT IS SO!! )
Image
Now I was getting somewhere and as I was being hell on this wheel, which was still spinning and moving down this road, a long and winding road, I realized the full truth to the meaning of the prophecy conundrum. How could I not? I mean someone had been here before, or after, or possibly later.
Image
Now I need to figure out how come 22. Maybe there was a Muffin stand at 21 and I missed it. Drat!! But so far, nothing. It does seem to be real though.

Ok so we gots 60, 360, 22, and 21, two kissing cats, a sit'n'spin, beer, pondering, a road to nothing, M&M eggs, muffins, pygmy sandpaper shoes, Freddie Mercury, and Vikings. Plus other stuff. It's starting to make sense! 8O :D

We're on the cusp of something! !! Maybe even important!! !

If we're going to tame muffins and all that, on account of 60 and all that, shouldn't we have some entertainment first, to warm us up?

We should do some maths, too, for mental exercise:

OK, ready. Where's those 60 muffins we got to catch for Lau?

Ok. So, if we divide 28 by 21, use the pi in 360 creatively, multiply by 22 to the power of nowhere, and go to Cern to collect their rappers...

...aw dang!! ! Monkey astrolau Albert just stole my keyboard...

"In the beginning, the Earth was without form, and void.
And the spirit of nobody at all moved silently upon the face of the deep.
Suddenly nobody said "Let there be loads of stuff", but absolutely nothing happened.
Then a bit later some stuff did happen, but nobody was looking."

Chuck....you looked. No wonder you're confused.

Sacred Disorder of the Enigmata

Several, err, umm, Disciples.

This one looks remarkably like my little sandpaper footsie covered friends.
I can't know for sure because I can't see thier feet, but,
it does look like sand they're standing in and we all know it sticks.
Image
I think she's a "come as you are" Disciple and if she isn't a Disciple, I'd follow her anyway.
Sand or no sand. There is just something special about a woman with an umbrella, don't you think?
Image
(Yeah well, there were other Disciples as well, I was discrete. Sorta. Maybe. Kinda. Ok, I wasn't.)
I think they both are Discipling at the Burning Man.
Which is fine, as long as it isn't me.

Happy Birthday lau.

I don't know the words to Happy Birthday To You, but I know 99 Bottles of Beer on the Wall, I just need help counting backwards after we reach 75.
We could give it a go and I bet we could do it, you being a good adder and subtractor. Bet you can even do division, although for now one of you is enough.
And not enough, live long and longer.

With suitable extra helpings of  , I'll go Wilde.

Thanks all.... especially all those who figured it out, eventually.

I'd like to thank all my ancestors, without whose patience I wouldn't be here.

I'll also thank all those people who, when I was young, managed to avoid running me over, or otherwise causing my demise.

I'd like to thank oxygen, carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen and a bunch of other rather handy elements, whose tricks and antics keep my typing fingers working.

And special thanks to reality, whether it is real or not, and the tooth fairy.

Last, but not least, I'd like to thank whoever (or whatever) I haven't already thanked, even if they (or it) didn't do anything.

Three cheers for it. Hip, hop, jump and please hurry along there.
