Indeed, PP is grounded - in his own brand of non-real, terpsichorean, verbal clip-clop.

So opines the great panjandrum.

May your ferrets grow long.

Panjandrum was coined in 1755 by the English actor and playwright Samuel Foote (1720-1777) to test the memory of the actor Charles Macklin, who claimed to be able to memorize and repeat anything said to him (it was one of several inventions in the same vein that Foote put to him): "And there were present...the Joblillies, and the Garyulies, and the Grand Panjandrum himself, with the little round button at top." It did not spread into general use until the 19th century.

Alfred Hitchcock used the inspiration Macklin for his immortal film "The 39 Steps"

Pompous verbosity and verbose pomposity topic......
Anyone who can brave a North Central PA winter should never be grounded.

Has anyone seen Lemon?

i hate bronchitis. i got it three weeks ago, still sound like i should be on a TB ward, was on the mend and now i've got a fever again. i believe i'm going to be a very, very cranky old broad for the foreseeable future.

they say "it's going around." nice. it can leave and go around elsewhere just as soon as it can and that would be fine with me.

it's true i'm not much on the computer lately,
but i do check and read you guys at least five minutes every day, that's why i didn't realise of the not posting
but just passing by isn't seen online of course.

and yay school and teaching are my focus (not sure if it's obsessive or just wanting to do it well, or not being able to do it if i don't give it my full focus, or .. or.. well i guess you do understand what i mean?)
it's going good at school for the moment, feel like i can really reach lots of pupils, but a lot of work it is.

I found this and was simply astonished.

Merle

Quote:
From childhood's hour I have not been
As others were; I have not seen
As others saw; I could not bring
My passions from a common spring.

From the same source I have not taken
My sorrow; I could not awaken
My heart to joy at the same tone;
And all I loved, I loved alone.

Then—in my childhood, in the dawn
Of a most stormy life—was drawn
From every depth of good and ill
The mystery which binds me still:

From the torrent or the fountain,
From the red cliff or the mountain,
From the sun that round me rolled
In its autumn tint of gold,

From the lightning in the sky
As it passed my flying by,
From the thunder and the storm,
And the cloud that took the form (When the rest of Heaven was blue)
Of a demon in my view.

From Childhood's Hour
Edgar Allan Poe

^^ I've been working on a song using those words as the basis for the text for some time now (ok, several years). I'll try to get you a copy once I get it entered into Sibelius.
