Ahhhh........ well that's where my pink tutu finally ended up! I'd love to hear the story behind that photo, Chuck!

Hi, Lemon! Congratulations on your book being out!! :D :D

I had a short note from Chuck about a month ago. He was busy busy as always and now that it's Spring... not here, but in most places... I can imagine he's busy bouncing around Tennessee with his usual "hello sunshine" fervor.

Okay, finally something noteworthy happened here - sadly, the wrong kind of noteworthy.

I was talking to H in the garage, her preferred smoking section, and standing on a skateboard, which was perfectly fine, and something I've done many times before. I flubbed the dismount, though - as I tried to step off the skateboard, it went one way, I went the other, and I experimentally confirmed that concrete has no elasticity to speak of, and that the human endoskeletal structure is relatively frangible.

Or, in simple English, I done went and broke my right arm.

Fortunately, it was a simple break; once I finally get that DSHS paperwork filled out (probably tomorrow sometime) and get state medical, I'm supposed to follow up with an orthopedist, and either get a cast or have them go in and put the bone completely in place.

For now, I kind of wish I'd spent more internet time searching for porn - I'd probably be better at typing with only my left hand...

So what will you be planting Richie? My veg plot is slowly filling up now with cabbage, broccoli, sprouts, cauliflower, potatoes, leeks, onions, chives, turnips, beetroot, lettuce, peas and runner beans. I just wish the weeds grew slower than the veg.

I plan on growing Lima & kidney beans, string beans cucumbers, tomatoes, peppers, eggplants,
lettuce, celery and various herbs. Sounds like a lot but all this should fit into a 4'x8' box garden.

To grow all those it sounds like you have slightly warmer weather than I do in northern France.

The latitude and longitude of Reims, France is:
49° 15' 0" N / 4° 2' 0" E

49° 15' 0" N / 4° 2' 0" E
Reims, France
Region: Champagne-Ardenne

(I just chose a random region in Northern France, is this near to you, TallyMan?)

The latitude and longitude of York, Pennsylvania (where Richie gardens)
39° 57' 45" N / 76° 43' 41" W
York, PA
County: York County
State: Pennsylvania
Country: United States

:D a good garden for the both of you!

I have Pacific NorthWest strawberries in a large pot of terra cotta @ 44° 54' 16" N / 122° 55' 18" W. Half way between you both!

If you are growing maize you might want to check out a technique called "Three Sisters" or milpa.

That's an interesting article. I'd not heard about that technique. I may give it a try next year. I've already got my runner beans and canes in place now; like a long wigwam. My sweetcorn always seems to struggle a bit for some reason. I plant 'em around a foot apart in a clump so they can cross pollinate. Maybe they need more water than they simply get via rainfall. Last Summer in particular was very dry, verging on drought. The courgettes always do very well, always far more than we can eat provided they don't succumb to mosaic virus. That's the trouble with gardening, there are always pests and weeds etc to combat.

I'm not sorry to hear that I'm not the only one who has lost skateboarding skills with age but I am sorry to hear the pavement won in your case.

The state DSHS is dragging its feet on the process of approving my medical coverage, but if they do, it'll be retroactive to May 1, so that much is good. And I have an appointment tomorrow to have pins inserted into the wrist to hold things in place for the nonce (I apparently fractured the distal radial bone, and dislodged the ulna from its wrist anchor), so I'll probably be incommunicado for a few days...
