Me! I wasn't diagnosed until I was 46.

Late, yes. Definitely.

Oh, life in the New Place is lovely! It is quiet enough at all times that I can lay down and take a nap whenever I'd like. In the evenings we can sit out on the terrace and have supper, and the kid has to put a shawl on her shoulders some evenings... And there are no horribly unmentionable biological artifacts floating in the jacuzzi here, it's nice and clean. The neighbors (from some Scandinavian country) came over and introduced themselves the other night. I can't remember the last time I've had anyone do that.

It's really good.

The Old Place is still being renovated, and hence is not rented, and hence I'm carrying two rents, but it should be ready to go by the end of this week. I am hopeful our property manager will do some magic and get that place rented out. I can carry it two more months, then I'll have to abandon it. Which I don't want to do, but I'm not moving back there. We are still hip-deep in boxes, but we're making slow progress emptying them and putting things away. Another full week, I think, and it'll all be unpacked and we can just put the boxes in the recycling bins.

Sigh.

:D

I am so glad that your new place is working out! I look forward to a new place with my fiance. But that is a way off yet. Since we are first time home buyers, and I am disabled, we hope to get some financial assistance; especially for a down payment.

It's a really good time to buy, Hartz. If we were out of this area I'd be putting a downpayment on a place instead of renting right now. I will have my 20 years in with this employer in just over 4 years, after which time I can collect my pension and leave. Which I shall do. Since it'll be a number of years before I can collect social security (old age) benefits, I'll be looking for another job to fill in with, but at least I'll have the pension to pay my rent (etc.) while I do whatever job I can find. If all goes well....

Have you considered trying to find a "rent to own" arrangement? Some people are so desperate to sell they might do that. It would cost a bit more than a "normal" sale arrangement, but it would get you into a place and then in a few years when you have some equity you could potentially refinance the place into a FHA loan or other conventional arrangement.

The few rent to own properties we have looked at were not even worth renting, unfortunately. That seems fairly common, where we live. :?

bummer! the place we were in was an absolute pit when we bought it. worked on it one room at a time over the years. had the market not crashed, I'd have been retired on what I could have sold it for. but, as it is, it's now a nice enough place for a family who can deal with the neighbors.

assuming anyone ever rents it.

I remember, seems like, sometimes, lately, all I can do. Ya, I remember, people, favorites, seems like ages ago and yes...yesterday, people that won't ever return here and are,, gone, not to be known again, afresh. I am sad and I am not. I met them and I am richer. I will be one myself, one day. Today isn't it.

 8O   I just saw my age, hell I'm only 61, thought I was 62 this year. Whew!! ! Thank heavens for the intranetz.

Postie was here?? And no one set a trap to keep him here for more than a minute?? Our muffin supply is low, the duck tape is gone. The pink tutus, grenades and Chuck are all broken......
