I'm 32, currently working on trying to get a diagnosis, but I feel like I definitely fit the profile. My therapist thinks I have it, my shrink disagrees. We'll see.

I'm 45. Found out about my Asperger's last year.

Life makes a whole lot more sense now that I know I'm hardwired this way and not mental. I'm also a lot happier within myself. It felt really strange that one simple thing (I use the term bravely) could explain all my indiosyncrasies and peculiarities. My wife (hay, I got that lucky) says she understands me much more now and accepts the things I do. The rest of my family has ignored the issue.

I still believe that I'm evolving into a cat though. :)

Hi - I'm Louis
I'm 72 years old. I have always thought differenty from others, but I've
never been irrational or obsessive about anything - quite the opposite.
Not much has ever mattered to me except my own comfort and amusement.
Couldn't care less about things like religion or politics.
Made my living as a Technical Illustrator. For awhile, I wrote and drew my
own comic book called "Three to Infinity" (sci-fi adventure).
Nowadays, I just collect and watch old movies. I also enjoy Opera.
I know a woman who was autistic until she was 12 - then grew out of it
enough to get a Bachelor of Arts - she also writes and draws her own comix
based on her memories of how the world seemed when she was autistic.
Asperger's is a brand-new expression to me - I used to be labelled as
"narcissistic" or a case of "arrested developement".
Shrinks sure do like to make up labels........

I'll be 57 this month. Heard about Asperger's less than two days ago, and took the AQ test (Baron-Cohen) yesterday. So self-diagnosed for less than 24 hours. But I have always assumed that my autopsy will be written up in all the journals with something like, "You won't believe what we found!" as the title. I guess that means I always suspected something.

Yeah there are a lot of youngsters around, but this is a big forum and there are plenty of us more mature people. I think life is more different for those of us who have reached adulthood and beyond without having an explanation for our "otherness", than it is for the younger crowd.

I learned about AS a little over a year ago (oh yeah, I'm 42) and was just diagnosed last month after having 1 psychiatrist laugh at me and the other be dismissive about it. Got referred to a specialist and he diagnosed me within 2 minutes.

Have I missed out on anything? You bet. I have been taken advantage of and been bullied and my life has had to take many unhappy turns because of it.

I'm thirty-mumblessomethingoffintothedistance-and-changes-subject. (seriously, 36)

Undiagnosed; yet a few months worth of reading and considering my own developmental oddities in light of the common literature provided a fair-to-good idea. I learned about AS 3 years ago.

Also, do you ever feel like you missed out on so much in your life due to having Asperger's? I'd love to compare other people's experiences to my own.
What I've missed out on has less to do with being Aspie than with not knowing I was Aspie (hoping that make sense :? ). Trying to emulate normalcy stripped me of more potential and self-respect than if I'd had that particular developmental guidepost much earlier. But I'm getting "better" all the time. :D

I'm 42. Which means I know the answer to the question about life, the universe and everything.

I'm 31 myself. Looks like most of the resources for Autism and Asperger's is for children. We have quite a few over 30 in the crowd here. I've always wondered what really happens to Autistic people as they grow older. AS adults seem to have a little more going for them however It seems like autistics sort of "dissapear" at least from an information standpoint. I guess as they get older, they assmiliat better into society. There's tons of support and information out there for ADD /ADHD adults, but not much for Autistics / Aspies. Odd, since just like ADD/ ADHD, it doesn't go away

46 read about it 6 months ago, it sure sounded like me and than a few months later I searched around the internet and found one of the online tests that said I probably fit the profile.
