I enjoy meeting people from the UK. Actually got to travel there this year. Once out of London we had some problems with the language, but had a lovely time, all-in-all.

And unfortunately, also confirmed my negative suspicions about "welcomes". :(

UK here also, Yorkshire. (see, I read the OP's intro  )

Am confused. Post said anyone wanting to make friends with persons from England/UK, correct? What's with the "fail"?

In my case, I  'd and also felt somewhat disheartened because neither the OP's name, nor his post topic was addressed in any way. A generic "welcome", with no personalisation to the OP seems a tad like an automated reply....I was in a quandary when i first joined whether to individually thank everyone who posted a welcome, then became GENUINELY convinced that perhaps it wasn't from real people and there was an automated system that generated some of them.... (sorry about that!)

(bolding added by me) Admittedly I originally just gave location...so I also fail.

Ohhhh, ok. :)

I saw Tim's response, with his tag lines at the bottom showing some of his interests, noted his age, location from under his avatar... so it didn't make sense.

No, it's just real people here. (I think. )

Welcome! I'm currently based in Bristol (but I'm not British), writing up my thesis. I paint as a hobby, watch films. I'm 26, male. My avatar is my current favourite fictional character. If I won the jackpot I'd probably move to Scotland or Switzerland and become a full-time painter and maybe learn another language just for fun - first I'd do some traveling though, probably China and all over Europe. My native language is Spanish.

Leeds

19 year old male, I'm terrible with geography (mainly because I never showed an interest) so I have no idea if anyone who posted their location here is nearby or not :?

I've seen a few northern Aspies on WP (even a few from Leeds). Not that it matters if they're local or not. That's the great thing about the internet -- you can talk to people from all over the world. Everyone is a local.

Welcome to Bristol (I'm not from here but I've been here longer than you)! What are you studying, if I may ask? I'm doing chemistry.
