I already do have Canadian nationality! 
My mom was born here so I was automatically qualified to apply for it under the auspices of the Citizenship Act of 1977. Under that act, any person born outside Canada on or after 14 February 1977 to one (or both) parent(s) of Canadian citizenship at time of birth is automatically qualified for citizenship!
I officially became a citizen of Canada on 6 February 2006!
